Only updates I have needed so far where the initial maps updates which were then downloaded to the laptop from the internet, also had to do a Firmware update but they wouldn't do the the Firmware update to often, when you have the computer connected you can click on the menu to check for updates its that easy.

I have a Thundrmax running map # 525 on my 2010 Fatboy Lo, now I have done about 5,000 ks on this system and its still working fine. Thundermax price was $1100 from Rollies in Queensland this also included the serial cable from the Laptop to the Thundermax ECM also the connector terminators for the air cleaner and Exhaust flapper device which was disconnected when the exhaust was replaced with the 2 into 1 RSD Tracker system otherwise there would be error codes.

One thing I think Thundermax  should do is supply a USB cable as the serial cable is old technology as most newer laptops don't have a serial port so I was unable to connect this device to my laptop. To get around that problem I had to go to Dick Smith and purchase a USB to Serial cable then install the software on the computer so it would recognise the USB to Serial cable. Once that was done I had communication to the Thundermax ECM. Once the required map was sourced and downloaded to the ECM from the Laptop its setup, then all you have to do is run IC Auto setup to calibrate the ECM and your ready to go. Then the Auto Tune will start doing its thing when your out riding.

My bike has a standard engine internally, I have fitted an RSD Speed 7 Aircleaner and a Vance & Hines 2 into 1 exhaust system. Also purchased a Thundermax Performance speedo from the USA, only purchased this speedo just so I could monitor in real time when riding to see what the engine Temp & AFR ratio were. The speedo shows the Head Temp, also displays the AFR for the front & Rear Cylinder, digital Tacho, Shift Light,  there are other functions on this Thundermax Speedo , but its a bit of overkill if you ask me and alot of expense.

There are several videos on Youtube showing the installation of the Thundermax, its very simple to setup if you have a laptop.

Like yourself I like to do my own work, not really into taking my bikes to the Dealer, also they charge so much its a rip off.

Most of the stuff you require can be sourced from the Manual which is on the disk which comes with the Thundermax device, just take your time and read the manual you will be surprised how much you will learn.

Not to hard install the Thundermax with Autotune on the Fatboy Lo, only real problem with the installation was with one of the O2 sensors which was a minor problem, also the bolts are different from procedure in the instructions, I purchased some smaller nuts, they would then screw one without any problems as the original nuts were just a bit too wide with the flange on the stock nuts.

Routing one of the O2 plugs up behind the oil tank was a bit of a tight squeeze, had to remove the plate which holds the oil tank onto the frame, then round the square corners off on the O2 sensor plug with a file, pretty easy as the plastic is soft. Once the corners of the plug were rounded off the plug would then just slip through the opening.

G'day Ash n Grumpy, I"m in love with my '08 Heritage w/ S/E hi-flo kit Vance & Hines straight shot slip-ons and my sensational Thundermax....I got a bit pissed with it after downloading Zippers update for ny configuration this being Map#567 where I had engine lights coming on...overheating and so on, and was almost talked into the HD system..
however as it cost me heaps I thought I'd give it one more go and so I took it to H/Heaven here in Melb. and the young bloke tuned it beautifully to the same map.
(I'm not a stealer fan but credit where credits due) anyway, it seems that I had selected the right map, but had neglected to clear the old map out of the t/max and it was trying to service the twin systems at once hence the fuck up...

Now I feel the fool, so thanks to the young fella at HH she now goes like a rocket, stick with it brothers....they are sensational...in as much as loading the correct map, go slowly and carefully through the quick manual supplied and you will get there...(or take it to a young bloke)...alright I screwed up I but never said I was a rhodes scholar...

    Mate,

It's abit weird how it worked out. The adaptor is for an phone, laptop or some other shit. I was really hung over and couldn't be fucked quizzing the 16 year on the counter so I just bought it. The driver that came with it didn't work but did find options on the net and as I said half an hour fucking around and I was all good except for the hang over LOL

I'm away at the moment but on the weekend I'll dig out the info and share it.

    Cheers
