    Hi Guys

    just bought a 2009 883 custom - stock standard

I would like to put a high flow air filter and vance & hines short shots.

Not sure which tuner to go with. I have a dobeck on the Fatboy and very happy with it. The dealers are saying to go thundermax and so are their service guys as HD are making it difficult to use OEM tuners on late model Harleys (2009 newer) - dont know how true this is

As other threads have stated, Thundermax is around $750, screamin eagle race tuner $359 and TTS around $280 -  so last two seem the way to go if they will work

    Any advice appreciated

    Thanks

    Fat Tony

Fat Tony I was a big thundermax fan - until the brains trust on here .... talked me around to buying the TTS they were right the bike ran a lot smoother and the throtle response was far better than the TMax - also the engine looks cleaner without the 02 sensor wires re-routed around the motor

with the aussie dollar the way it is and the quick delivery from M&M cycles I had mine within the week

    ride safe over christmas

    Many Thanks HB

I've got a dobeck on the Fattie and very happy with it

just keep hearing the same thing from service guys / spare parts.........late model bikes need genuine screamin eagle tuner or thundermax

they reckon dobecks dont work on them

was hoping to hear other people experience

    thanks - much appreciated

True......True......... I think its also they know and are comfortable using their own stuff

Just wondering did you install the TTS yourself or have a pro do it ?

do you need a laptop to configure the TTS or like the Dobeck just punch in the codes

    Thanks

True. They also went out of their way to tell me not to "play with my new Fatboy" I wasn't listening!! :)

Everything done to the bike was done by me within 6 weeks of buying it! I did the TTS, and yep, you need a laptop. I have not V-Tuned yet. The bike is running really well with a canned map, and so I don't have a real need to play with it. I might do some data runs in the new year.

They don't like me much because I proved to them that they are not the only ones that know what they are doing - and they don't like the fact that I bought most of it from OS. Oh well.

If you want to screw with your dealership go in and ask them if they have every installed a SERT, Screamin Eagle Race Tuner not the new SESPT unit. If they have ask them to show you the software and if you look under the "Help" menu then go to "About" guess who's name you will find right there? Then you can look at the calibration files they have and they will all be ".MT5 or .MT6". MT stands for Mastertune. HD sold and install our product from 2002 - 2008 as the SERT, Screamin Eagle Race Tuner. It was just a private label of Mastertune with a lot of features stripped out of it.

I agree with Hilly. The TTS is easy as, and does a great job. Well it did on my Fatty anyway!! :)

The good thing with the TTS (I think) is I can revert the bike to stock ECU setup in about 5 minutes. It will take me longer to get the seat off than it will to reflash the bike. :)

Just like FAT TONY I'm trying to decide. Looking at the TTS I guess. Seems the way to go. Where can I get one and approx cost.
