So, had a win on Monday with getting the front tyre changed out under warranty.

Cleaning the bike this morning when I noticed something strange.

    You notice anything amiss?

That has gotta be damn near a criminal act FFS....The workshop manual is full of things like "if it aint done up right it could cause serious injury or death"

I would send that photo to HD Aust with a very wide spray....

Phantom, whilst not being a guru at word articulation, I'll take some of your tips and write to HD Aust and HD USA.
The more I look at the front end of my bike the more pissed off I get, but as you mentioned, I'll try not to use too much emotion in my wording.
I will mention the safety aspect (or lack thereof), not because I want to just use that as a leverage point, but because I genuinely feel that my safety
    was threatened.
I'll let you know how it pans out.

So, was haflway through giving an update, when the phone rang saying theyre going to send a technitian(is that a polite term for unqualified mechanic) down after work to fix it with parts taken from one of their new bikes in stock.

Now Im in two minds about said dealer, they fuck it in the first place, but have so far come through with repair options.

there is simply no excuse for that... that same shit happened to me on my 1st service, I rode it from the service to the joint that was swapping the wheels for me and he called me over to show me... now it wasnt missing like yours but it was just hanging there...

I made the mistake of not kicking up a stink about it, you never know who's life you might be saving...

What this incident has shown is that there is no check and recheck of a job done....A place where removed parts are put, a second person check the first's job etc....that's how they keep aircraft in the air.....

They certainly need the rough end of a pineapple and tought a very serious lesson...Methinks the workshop manager needs to show why he should keep his job...

Now we will have to check the checker as well FFS...

That made me feel sick when I saw that, you are 1 lucky bloke there was no damage to yourself or the bike. A mate picked up his ride in NSW and was on the highway at 110k's when the front wheel decided to first leave the front of the bike and second take a trip accross the road head on into a car. Quite a few years ago now but his back injuries will never fully heal.

This is pure negligence and incompetence and a sackable offence no questions asked if it were my workshop due to the lack of duty of care. I will be interested to hear the response from them.

A verbal rocket although tempting will not help, as stated by Phantom a well constructed damning email to all interested parties is required.

This also highlights something averyone should do when picking up your scoot after work has been done especially with wheels. Go around it with the mechanic and let him discuss what he did, eyeball everything he said he touched too make sure its how it should be, anything like that will be picked up before you hit the throttle, not when you get home. This is your right and should be expected. I did this with every customer when I was in the game. Piece of mind for yourself and the customer that he will have a safe journey which was in your control.

    Thanks eyeball.

Lucky you like cleaning and admiring your bike.

I'll definitely check over my bike everytime I go to pick it up from any service or repair .
