mmmm, thanks for the update; bikes aside, I found this part of the story of interest too:
Correspondents say that while luxury bikes are in rising demand, riding them in many parts of India represents a major challenge.
The country has one of the worst road safety records in the world, with more than 100,000 being killed every year in accidents.
100,000!! Sheeeeeit!! I think our Queensland road toll is somewhere around 300 (?) poor souls each year - maybe the Indians should avoid the roads and stick to 'making & exporting' only...
I was in the Philippines recently and saw a sign on a highway saying "1.5 million accidents a year" Not sure how many fataities but I reckon a lot after watching the morning news there and seeing the accident reports from the night before. Only 98mil though so doesnt compare with India...or China.
I hope the bike I have on the way is actually from the USA as they tell me.....
Im just about to order one too. But Peterstevens here in Adelaide didn't even know about the India Plant. Or do they ???????? Which one you order.
it's not all doom and gloom.... the bikes are being assembled in India so the components would be as per the US model, well for the moments anyway.
regarding road deaths... Malaysia has 6,000 a year of which 2/3rds are motobike related.
Just look at the list below if you are lazy to read. India is not in this list but on further Googling is around 6.5
