G'day Steve
I was born and raised in Margaret River and frequently go back to visit family.
Really depends what time of year you are going there. School holiday periods are always "peak demand" - WA school holidays are not the same as Eastern States. There is plenty of accommodation in and around town which would be walking distance to the "nightlife" (such as it is) and also lots of B&B type stuff outside of town and on the coast (Margaret River townsite is about 10kms from the beach). My advice would be book as soon as you can.
As for activities - the main asset is the scenery, beaches, river and of course touristy things like the Vineyards, Brewerys, cheese factories and the like. There are plenty of nice roads for either short blasts or longer day trips. Beware though - Margaret River is essentially a small shire and venture off the main roads and you will find poorly constructed, narrow, tree lined winding roads.
Feel free to get in touch if you want any details.
Cheers
Philthy

Fark...........its the Phantom !
WA is a long way away. But the splinter group known as the paragragh ( as apposed to Chapter)
are thinking of touring New Zealand next year.
Our financial analyst has costed the trip just shy of 5k each. Just to get the bike there one way was $900. I think that was by roadtrain.
NZ dollar, beautiful country side and friendly sheep are all good reasons to visit our Cuzins abroad.
how bout that coffee ? Frasers ?
