    G'day all,

does any one know if the Merredin touring club is still up and going?

They used to arrange the bullshead rally & the vintage street racing there around mid '80's to early 90's.

I used to know a few of them when I was living there in the early '90's, went on a couple of rides with them. I have been working with a few of the founding members up here in the Pilbara for the last couple of years that had already left by the time I got to Merredin, and they're not sure if its still going or not either so thought i would post up here and see what happened to them.

    Cheers, stumbly

     Stumbly1,

Good mates with one of the last members, about 3 or 4 left in town I think, and he has been talking about getting the Bullshead rally up and running again but with marriage break ups and all the other shit that life throws at ya it hasn't come about as yet. But I will let him know that there is one bloke out there wanting to revisit the old stomping ground and if there is a few more animals out there looking for a good time just maybe something could be done, will let im know. About the street racers, well I don't know but I heard someone say that the shire was worried about all the riff raft that was being attracted  into town so they fucked the street circuit up by putting in kerbing, sharp corners and generally stuffed the dynamics up for racing.

Have heard that there is one bloke in town who is trying to get a tattoo and bike show up and running in town, he is in talks with the shire but 1%er's have been mentioned by the shire so it looks like he will be " up shit creek in a barbed canoe with out a paddle" with all the political correctness with in all levels of democratically elected governments and police departments. But we will be on his side giving him as much support that he needs

Yeah Porky was one of the originals, couple of other originals up here too - lefty, loose bruce, ray, muttly...a few others I don't know.

I never new Porky or Lefty until I came up here, but loose bruce & Muttly where still in Merredin when I was there. It was always good for a laugh every one helped each other out, shed partys etc.

Hey stinga, I have a bit of a chat to them occasionally about it, and I think they keep in touch with some of the others living in the SW now.

I'll flick this off as an email to them as a few of them said they didn't know if it was still up & going or not.

maybe we can arrange an informal ride & piss up up there sometime?

Stinga, I was there for a couple of years and in '92 or '93 and there was a bit of trouble - don't know the details, but apparently council got the shits.
It used to be a big crowd and I bet the local buisnesses weren't complaining about the extra $$$ they got over the weekend.
