I used to carry a 5L Plastic Fuel Container - You can get Good Quality one's if your willing to pay a bit more, if you buy cheap you can probably expect it to leak.

you can buy a foldable petrol container, so you can store it better in your bags when it aint needed

You will get a few 5 ltr containers for the price tho.

MSR and Trangia make aluminium bottles that are just short of a litre if you want to store multiples of them and are generally available at camping stores. Also pretty expensive.

    cheers

I suggest an aluminium bottle in red colour such as the type for drinks / refreshments rather than a plastic bottle. Much safer and won't fracture and spill fuel in the worst case situation.

I think they come in 1L but that should be enough if your needs are to just get you to the next servo... Otherwise get two or more.

Also easier to pack than one 5L bottle or bladder. Write or stencil "Fuel" on it so others and SES will know what's in it if your down and out cold.
Should be available at camping stores or maybe Aussie Disposals, etc.

    JMHO....

A bit more info on the bladders. http://www.liquidcontainment.com.au/fuel_bladders.html          http://www.liquidcontainment.com.au/ecommerce.php?action=search&category_id=26

When I rode down for the pub run, the mate that was with me put some fuel in a coke bottle for the Glendambo to Coober Pedy stretch (256km). The fuel in the bottle expanded due to heat and leaked through evrything in his saddle bag. Gloves, shoes, clothes, Chrissy presents etc. Not a nice experience. Ensure you get a 'fit for purpose' fuel container and think about heat and expansion issues.

I reckon the bladders are the way to go because they don't take up any room when not required.

    IMHO

You just have to be careful with contamination and condensation, plus the fuel going off if left a long a time in the container.
