Hey guys, wanting to repaint the barrels on my Shovel and wanted any tips on cleaning and painting them. Is it enough to just Prepsol and then spray with high temp paint? I have heard that some people have had good results with Pot Belly Stove Black.

Any help or advice greatly appreciated

    Cheers boys

    HD,

I'm looking at doing the same thing, but I want to paint the heads and motor on the 92 sporty.   I reckon I'll get the heads sand blasted on the outside to get all the old paint and crap off then coat with high temp primer and paint.  I'd suggest using a  primer as well as top coat, you'll get much better results.  I've purchased the 3M high temp paint and primer, just got them from Supercheap auto.

White vinegar works great for getting rust and grime deposits off, just soak for a couple of hours and then scub.  I've been using it on a lot of old parts with surface rust etc., it works great.
