Hi All - This is an entirely hypothetical question for research for a book I'm planning on writing as the subject matter is illegal in my fine State and I would, in no way want to support, or appear to support, any attempt to evade the fully justified speed enforcement activities that the wonderful members of VicPol undertake.
Hypothetically, the character in my book is looking at radar detectors at the moment. My character would love to get the Adaptive TPX Wireless (http://www.delonixradar.com.au/radar-detectors/adaptiv/tpx-motorcycle) because it's designed esp. for bikes but it's NOT stealth. My question is (for research purposes only) - how common are RDD's in Australia, esp. Victoria? Is it likely to be picked up and are RDD's directional or do they just indicate there's an RD in the area somewhere?
The other questions is - if my character hypothetically went for something like the Bel STI (full stealth), how easy would it be to mount to a Sportster? My entirely fictional character needs something that can run off an internal battery or REALLY easy plug and play from a hard-wire set up on the bike.
Thanks for helping me with my research for my completely fictional book.
So you want to avoid speeding fines (don't we all), by attaching a radar detector to your bike.
Last I heard they don't really give you enough time to avoid getting pinged, they were popular a number of years back but I think the technology of the speed cameras has changed and they don't work. I might be wrong but I haven't heard of anyone using them lately.
I think your fictional character would be wasting his money, if there is any such thing as a stealth RD it wont be stealth for long........do you know the person that invented the radar then invented the radar detector, then invented new radar with different frequency, then invented new radar detector then.....etc etc.....smart man, kept the big dollars rollin in. Dont know if he's responsible for the RDD but in the long run i think your character would find it much cheaper to pay the speeding fine, but that would make some pretty boring reading........so give the fucker a radar detector
