Once old grips removed is it a good idea to glue on the new ones if so what glue is best ?

How do I get the old ones off? do i just cut the stock grips off or is there a technique??

Have never had to do my harley but when putting new grips on a dirt bike i have alsways just used spray paint and pushed grip on while paint is wet-  picked this trick up at a bike shop years ago and have never had any trouble.
