Gooday all-I have a 98 Road King with 44000klm on her. Cosmetically the bike is very good except a lot of pitting on the front fork lowers. Is there a easy fix to this to remove or cover the pitting. Its probaly the only thing that lets the bike down in looks.

    Cheers   Dan

Put them in to be rebuffed or chromed... You are always going to have that problem due to crap on the road. If they are not to bad you could try doing it yourself but it may not turn out as complete as a pro doing it....

The steel wool option sounds good-how did u do it-with water? How did it come out?

Consider pulling the fork legs and have them buffed out / polished professionally. I have seen results of doing this and they will look new-ish again.

Thanks for the advice-I used the steel wool with Mothers Metal Polish-not quite perfect but 100% improvement(hard yakka, took some time)

I did the same to an Vstar I had. Take the forks off and get them to a good bench polisher. You then use 2 types of polishing media. 1 on the wheel called Stitched Rag, and the other wheel that is the buffing cloth.

You can get the polishing compound at Bunnings. Brown for the cutting and white for the polishing.

Its a friggin messy job and you come out looking black as, but the result is quite good. If you are keen you can then topcoat them, but I didn't and they looked fine.
