MRAQ - Motorcycle Riders Assoc Queensland

    MRAQ has just had its AGM and a new Committee was voted in.  I can tell you that this Committee is enthusiastic and there is a very high degree of knowledge and expertise being contributed by the individual Committee members.  The MRAQ has seats on various Committees and Councils and is able to directly provide Govt departments with feedback from the biker community on issues which have an effect on us.  The MRAQ is going back to its grass roots role which is Road Safety, fighting unjust legislation and providing a social environment to ALL riders.  Your voice will be heard in the MRAQ.  Check out the website - www.mraqld.org/  - for information regarding the MRAQ and take the opportunity to join if you have not already done so.

    Thanks for the tip EVO; I just registered on the site. However, whilst browsing the site I came across this gem on the 'statistics' page:

    • Indigenous Road Safety

      The department encourages collaborative efforts around Australia to improve road safety for Indigenous Australians.

    Why? Why do Aboriginals require their own special program? And I don't mean to invite any racist vitriole if that's anyones personal thing, but I don't get why a common sense program like road safety is pre-fixed with 'Indigenous' so as to set that particular program apart from any other.

    Road safety is road safety. Seriously people, I'm stumped - why the special program?!

    The concept for Indigenous Road Safety is a concept which probably justifies someone their job.  My view concurs with yours, road safety is road safety and it should apply to all road users, same as the One Law for All approach.  All riders are welcome to attend the monthly meetings so come along and check out what we are trying to do.   We can take your application for membership on the night
