WTF's a speedo?

M8, i'm no expert, all i know is somewhere down the road, Harley went from mechanical cable drive to Electronic sensor pick up, or what ever correct term is.

well i can't be sure but could be somewhere in the 90's they changed so you 84 EVO ( still a new bike in my eyes) would have Mechanical cable drive pick up driven off front wheel, some have it from the gearbox but i don't think late model use the gear box. the gear box speedo 's i think were 1:1 ratio, & front wheel were 2:1 ratio. i had problems trying to get mine spot on, you can get 1:1 front wheel drive & 2:1 front wheel drive.

if your having prob's have to try to find a speedo expert, was one in Syd but i think 10 years ago he retired.

from what i saw, some speedo's were 1:1 ratio & some 2:1 ratio. i picked up a speedo of a jap sport bike and Crono's checked said it would work with my 2:1 he got it working perfect. was on a shovel with 21" front wheel.

these days with GPS speedo's and sensors you should be able to go another rout.

why not change to the 2.1 ratio change the speedo drive and cable custom chrome  make them with taco aswell.

2.1 drive is for 21 inch wheel 

 i run 2.1 drive ratio and my speedo is spot on

i forgot to mention that when i changed  my speed/taco  to 2:1 ratio ,that i all so changed the the wheel drive to 2:1 ratio to suit 21 inch wheeli forgot about that  but i do agree with you about the other ratio

2240,as i do remember that when i was changing mine over ,if you get stuck i will double check my old speedo number.
