Have ordered a coil relocation kit for a 07' 883C.

Just wondering if anyone else has fitted one? Was there much stuffing around.

Did you have to remove the fuel tank ? or could you just loosen the the rear and take the front out and lift it ?

Could you easliy get at the black plastic crap to get it out of the way?

    Thanks in advance

i did one on my 11 iron. i dont know how similar a job it is, but would be happy to answer questions if it is the same.

i made my own bracket though. you can see pics in the "warranty" thread.

    good luck!

i saw an awesome kit online for $100. but last time i looked there was no more.

im so glad i made my own. cost me $21 for materials, and makes it a bit more personalised.

would be worth it if your no good with your hands.

    Thanks for the input fellas.

I got my kit from DK Customs in the U.S. cost was $100 shipped.  Also comes with Screaming Eagle spark plug leads that are correct length.

Mounting plate looks good quality. Comes with new bolts, cable ties, rubber mount for between coil and bracket.

Will give it a crack tonight

good job mate. i see you left the ignition switch where it was. they are a neat kit that looks very similar to my home made job.

Just fitted that exact kit (plus tank lift) to my Iron.

The job is easy as hell, but you may like to consider the wiring tuck as the large plastic panels that conceal the wiring will look strange without the ignition and coil hanging under there, but once you take the cover panel off the wiring needs to be tucked under the tank. This whole job took me about three hours coz I like to take my time and think about things as I go through them.

If you just do the coil and ignition relocation it will take all of 20minutes. Add the wiring tuck and add an hour and a half.

Instruction (without pictures) come with the kit and they make perfect sense. You'll need a set of torx head bits for your screwdriver.

Take the tank off, its very simple. Pull off the return line (yep, it just pulls off), pull the silver clasp around the fuel feed and pull this off (kind of like a garden hose fitting), unbolt front and back with allen head screw - lift off tank. 2 minutes and its off and its MUCH easier to work on afterwards.

did you have any problems with fuel spillage = or did you drain your tank first?

dont know if i can do a tank lift because of the risers and spedo mount on the custom.

might get away with a 1' lift, without changin anything else

When you pull the 'foreskin' back and tug the hose out a very small amount of fuel spills, but a tissue wrapped around the hose is enough to catch it.

My tank was 3/4 full and I just lifted it off and set it down on the bench,. No biggy.

You can see by the gap between the ignition and tank that it clears no worries.

On an Iron/Nightster tank at least...

my ignition sits just forward of the fuel outlet anyway, so even if it was at the same hight,  they wouldnt touch.

Have lifted the tank but no coil relocation / wire hiding / plastic ditching yet - may look odd with the front spoiler - any thoughts?

Seat is now sporting 2" springs and pulled back some.  Speedo relocation complete and now lowering the back end.
