So as to not offend anyone, Yes I do not mind supporting local business in Australia and Yes if we do not support some local commerce then we lose something special from Australia.  But in doing some research, purchasing gloves at $60+ locally compared with $24 in the US makes no sense to me.  Local retailers have to find some way of making themselves relevant to their local market, perhaps beyond price, in this world of global business.  Or perhaps the world really is changing without the ability to ever good back.

I am looking for websites internationally that sell and freight to Australia at good rates parts for Harleys.  Most of the international sites I can find use UPS at stupid rates to Australia.  Does anyone know of a couple of solid parts, apparel, type websites that do not charge the earth for freight?

Areas of interest: Jackets, gloves, boots, tall sissy bars, seats, handle bar risers, etc

    Thanks in Advance.

only using the prices ON THIS THREAD, it is easy to see adding our GST to internet sales is still better value, not the best thing for us as the consumer but if any thing, it will put money into OUR tax coffers that MAY benefit Australia.
Remember the Au business's wanting the excise placed will gain no direct benefit.

    $60 here v $24 + GST ($2.40) = $26.40 still $33.60 saving
    $280 here V $150 + GST ($15) = $165 still $115 saving

    we are still in front

Nope your answer is not received as being smart at all.  It is the pain of the freight costs that I am indeed trying to get round.  I can't see however that a retialer would be interested in flat packing items together that much however.  It doesn't add value to his business to muck around with too many "builds" to save the cusomter a buck.

How did you do that with the retailer you worked with?

Yep I did use google and hit about 8 sties before posting my question here.  On those sites however they only had an expensive UPS option on freight to offer me.  Hence my question.

Sometimes you just have to know what the answer is so you ask the right question.

Instead of "Freight consolidation" I finally tried "package forwarding service" [of course it is not frieght it is a "package", damm it]  Anyway came up with a bunch of companies all fighting over themselves for business.

Now has anyone got any feedback around which one is better, past expereinces....?

Yes for bringing bikes in with spares attached I have no issue.  It took me eight months to convince myself I had a repeatable, reliable model, before opening the business.  Within reason there is a huge advantage with bringing the spares with the bikes.  Bikes with some spares are no issue.

But like anyone would many customers want to then start modifying their bikes.

An effective process for bringing spares in by themselves is another element in building an even better service offering for customers. Managing consolidation and transportation of spares is an entirely different consideration.

Like the other aspects of what I do with the bikes, my plan is to offer customers thier own importation facility at net cost, leveraging the freight costs, plus a small service fee only.  No additional margin on the goods themselves. A pure replication of what I offer on the bikes.
