Any one out there removed a gear box from a 1987 FXR before, if so how much joy did it bring you?

I,m trying to find a noise thats giving me the shits.When clutch is out and bike mobile I have a metalic chirping noise in all gears at all speeds, box shifts ok considering age, but the noise is so loud it can be heard by other riders with V&H pipes.I have pulled apart clutch and also replaced pilot bearing in clutch shell, primary chain and comp sprockets all look good.Going up hills, obviously more load the noise appears louder.Lost for ideas? What do you reckon?

Do u have a bike lift mate? Get a mate to help you and run it on the stand so you can go over more closely and identify exactly where the noise is coming from
