Hi Guys
Looking at getting exhaust pipes for my 2010 V-rod Muscle
Was going to get the TAB pipes with the fuel manager and filter
However a lot of people say that the TAB fuel manager is not that good
The harley dealer reccommends the screaming eagle tuner
My understanding is that this is basicly just soft ware
Can some explain why its so expensive (they quoted $703)
Are you able to use this software on a number of different bikes,,, if this is the case then what is stopping one from just finding some one else with the soft ware and using theirs
Old fart that has never owned a bike with EFI,,, the old shovel and BSA's with carbies i understand can knock tha baffles out re jet and re tune
I like the look of the TAB pipes just need to make a decission on what tuner/fuel manager to get
Can I just knock the baffles out ( or open them up a bit ) of the standard pipes fit a tuner and get it to work it that way
Any thoughts and or advise would be most appreciated
Slick
Another old carbie guy here, Super Tuner is a dongle, (interface hardware) why its 800 bucks is cause it has HD stamped on it. It doesnt come with software or cables,
Only can be used on one bike (ECM) as it marries to it when first connected,
You can play and adjust the ECM If you want to learn to use if yourself but you need to buy the cables, the software and the instruction dvd. About 80 bucks from the US will get it all,
I bought it for my 2009 Fatbob took a week or two but ended up making my own maps adjusting fuel air etc and autotuning . Saves 170 dollars going back t o the dealer for a canned map to be flashed in.
Not sure on the rest but to my knowledge pipes can be changed without remapping but NOT if you change intake (air cleaner) as well. Add more air in and push more air out and you need to retune. Punching a hole in baffles may just lower back pressure and make it run worse so personally wouldnt go there, ( its not a beeza lol) . After pulling brit bikes apart for years I had the Fatbob for 12 months and ended up selling it recently and buying a 2001 Fatboy with a CARBY, now i can adjust and play all i like and feel a lot happier with dirt under my nails and knowing i can fix it on the side of the road
Cheers
