Mate, Tasmaia is a riders paradise. Do it in summer, anytime after Christmas day. There is no traffic, not many straight bits and the cops leave work early. you get days that are cloudless, stinking hot and crisp and fresh, a real paradise. And there is a vast number of pubs. The scenery is A1, some of the best wilderness in the country especially the west coast and Hobart is magical. See Salamance place on a sunday arvo and get a new perspective on relaxing. The last time I was there, I copped a parking fine. It was a wopping $15. The ferry over is great, modern and comfortable, although if you strike rough weather you'll frigging hate it.
I live in Melbourne and could write ten thousand words about how great it and the rest of Victoria is.
I was in Sydney a couple of weeks ago and spent a bit of time the Sydney harbour. What a sight that is. Grab the Manly ferry, or any other harbour transport and prepare to get a stiff neck , looking at the sheer size and beauty of that bit of water. The roads in Sydney are a nightmare, so is the traffic, try and get someone to escort you in and out otherwise you'll get ground to a pulp in traffic. Visit the blue mountains, then head up the coast via the coast road and see Coffs Harbour, Byron Bay then onto Brisvegas for the ultimate ripoff. at this point your halfway. Wish I was coming with you.
