Interesting point this, something I have never noticed when having my windshield on ...yet

but now I will be super sensitive about the wind coming up lol

might go for a ride next time to see if I get it ... and if putting an arm across my chest or feet up on the crash bars makes any difference

gonzales ... how do you find the plexiglass at speeds of 100 and above??? does it bend much or does it make a noise itself?

what sort of intercom are you running as well?

They already make nice chrome wind deflectors that mount to the fork legs below the screen mount.

    Replies to all the above:

Scotty: Hadn't seen Jacksflaps before. I'm impressed.

rkc07: The "arm across my chest" first alerted me to where the air was coming from. The Jacksflaps video shows it well. The intercom I use is an Autocom. They fit well into my HJC Sy-max flip-up helmet. I'm a bit deaf, however (see below) and I needed to build a small amplifier to make the volume loud enough.

Nobody: Yeah, I've seen those chrome deflectors. They're really large and heavy. Can't say as I liked them much.

WozzA: Sorry, I've spent too many years riding naked bikes without a shield, and I think they contributed to a hearing problem I have. I like my shield.

This posting got more of a response than I thought it would! Thanks all.

    wozza

I thought the name on the jacket ie vest was to make sure that everyone knew who to dump on lol hahahaha

    Gonzales,

We have the BlueAnt intercom system and found that on the way to Melb from the gong that the power only lasted a couple of hours despite what the manufacturer stated. Was running the windshield, the poof that I am hey wozza lol, with open face helmets ..pipes are loud so not sure if it was running constantly due to background noise ..need to test it with full face helmets to see if that changes the effects and length of operating time

went with the blueant as it allows for bike to bike comms

    Sycle1, rkc07,
    >Do the blueant intercoms have a volume control with can be wound right up? i.e. LOUD?
    >Do they fit well inside the helmets?
    >Are they fiddly to set up
    >Any other comments/problems?

    gonzales,

they do have a volume control and as to loudness, I guess it depends on how deaf you are lol ..but it is plenty loud for me

I found them not be to intrusive or affect how I wore my helmet ... the actual control bit sits on the outside of the helmet ...easy to setup and remove if needed

the initial setup can be fiddly between the two, just setting up which is the controller of the two sets, after that easy as .... what I did find however was if you used the headset to take phone calls, it can be tricky getting back to rider/pillion communication, especially on the road due to the head piece being on the side of the helmet

overall it is a pretty easy unit to use

got the headset for the trip to melb and the tour ..havent really used it since.... actually found it good to be able to chat and talk about things you see there and then, not once you have stopped half an hour later or such

I agree entirely RKC07, it makes the trip much more enjoyable. It's particularly useful for when I miss turnoffs eg: wife:"Weren't we s'posed to turn there, dear?". Me:"ah,... yeah, just checking you were awake..."
