Head modifications

I have recently torn down the bike for some much needed performance upgrades. I am trying to do as much of it myself, as possible, cause for me thats half the fun of it.

I decided to give the heads a bit of a touch up, so I am taking it slow and working on the notion that less is more.

I have polished up the combustion chamber (not ridiculiously just as much as is needed), now I just have to CC both heads and make sure they are the same. The heads are getting new stainless valves 1.900/1.630, titanium retainers and .600" lift spring kit. Then I'll just give the ports a bit of a touch up nothing to crazy, just to blend the valve pocket into the new oversized valves and a bit of a manifold match up.

I'll post up some more pics of the build as I go if you guys are interested.

Sounds good , will you fit new larger valve seats to match the 1.9 intake? or cut the stock seats to match 1.9?

I am unsure of cylinder height just now, I have the cases out being machined for a big bore kit, so once they come back and I fit the pistons and cylinders I'll have an idea of gasket sizes, comp ratios, ect. The big bore kit is the 114" revperf one, I wanted to keep stock stroke but go as big as possible. I have a set of andrews 54N cams so I'll fit those for now see how it goes. I always install new lifters with new cams, but I am just running stock 99b lifters.

The bike is a 2006 FXSTi,

The pistons that came in the kit are wiseco, and the kit looks really good. The is a note in the box mentioning the leaking cylinder base gasket and it says to use a bit of gasket goo on it and around the oil drain holes.

Good luck with it m8, i was thinking about those same barrels i think 5 years back, but never went through with it, would be good.

reason i asked about what valve seat is i ran 1.9 in stock seats for maybe 4 or 5 years? then cracked the seat, so went with larger seats. flows better.

i'm interested. i was told there is more to why they don't use CP pistons, something to do with bad credit, but this was a while back. CP are same as JE, and someone told me about a year back they think JE own wisco now. they are all good pistons.

be good to see how it performs.
