Just had my FXDX Dyno'ed at Geelong HD, and the numbers came out lower than expected.
The build: 95 10.2:1 cast pistons, Lightly ported '09 heads, Andrews 31 Cams, 42mm Mik', 2-2 Rinehart Crossbacks.
Not far off, but I was expecting 100 TQ and 95 HP just by judging by how it rides. Now I'm thinking of dropping in some TW55G's ?
The bike rides great, and has good torque everywhere, but another 10/10 with the same curve would be nice. Any thoughts ?
hard to compare dyno to dyno m8, can't see what correction theyu are useing, but it is low if you have 10:01 comp, what sort of cranking pressure?
It's still a lot better than a stock 95, & the HP is falling off early, probably manifold and carb restrictive, but just guessing. i have not used those pipes, but have seen how pipes & tune can make a difference.
What ignition are you useing? and what ignition settings, i've got good gains just changing timing with the Crane HI-4TC the Twin Tech is about same as Crane.
No expert but I would have expected torque to be at least high 90s, low 100s, HP not far off the money!
Correction counts too! I'm talkin SAE or DIN.
Good point re' correction, don't really know what was used but the Dynamic Test Dyno apparently read on the low side. I'm running a Daytona twin tech ignition with initial timing set at 2, and advance curve 3. Much more and I get some pinging when rolling on . at around 100-120 km/h in top. With the Comp' and heads I exepected more. Haven't measured actual cranking comp as yet, but will do ASAP. At this stage I'm thinking the Cam is holding things back, as it seems to be known as a turbo Cam. It's my first build, so it's a good learning curve ! At least it now has some balls compared to when it was stock.
Well, i don't know much about those Dyno's only what people have said, they don't make them now, but not important. if you keep useing same dyno, that's if you want to try tuning for more HP & TQ.
but i can see one area you could gain HP, retard the timing -5 degree, i got a good gain in HP just retarding timing -5 thats as far as it would retard. i think daytona Twin Tech same as my Crane, same guys designed both. good ignition.
I've never used Mick carb so can't help with jetting, but getting that set right can help gain Hp & TQ, same with aircleaner you use, can also take Aircleaner off to see if you get a gain, also have full tank of fuel & petcock set on reserve, as its gravity feed. how many run's did they give it to get base numbers?
also i have not used that cam or looked at spec's so can't say.
Well m8, if they did not let you watch & they did not show you a range of runs they did working up to the final power run. i would not worry about that dyno graph too much.
every time i've had my 95 dynoed ( something like 120 or more times on same dyno) we need three power runs just to get a baseline before we start to tune. i have see hp increase up to 10hp depending on motor & how bad tune was to start and sometimes more if we have different pipes just jetting and ajusting timing, thats initial advance i think they made a few improvements to the twin tech over the crane but basicly same system the changes are software.
But at some point you need to do more to motor. But i have been lucky enough to watch a 95 being developed and they got 100HP with stock size twin cam 88 valves, just cleaned up ports did a Serdi valve job,
if you could get to a drag strip & just do a few pass's forget about the time you run look at the trap speed that will tell you if your making good HP can try tuning & see if trap speed increases that means you gained. best dyno on the planet! but forget about the times your doing just look at the speed.
