One person tells me one, while someone else tells me the other...... Talk about confusing a bloke......

    Any info would be appreciated.

If you are talking about the new SE Street tuner there is no comparison between them. The street tuner only allows a HD dealer to download street legal tunes to your bike, you cannot adjust anything like you can with Mastertune. Now if you meant the SE Super Pro Tuner it's closer but you still cannot adjust near as much as you can with Mastertune. Think about this like a tool box with tools in it.

    Street tuner has NO tools
Super Pro tuner is half full
Mastertune is full toolbox of tools

Not to mention the price difference...I was quoted by my local friendly Stealership around $710 PER BIKE for a SERT (which would probably have been a SESPT), that included a 10% discount because I am buying two, plus $180 installation fee per bike. Then I was told no they keep the dongle, and they download a map that fits 90% of machines, BUT, if your machine falls into the unfortunate 10% they will have to dyno for another $500 a pop. Call me cynical but I just didn't have faith that my bikes wouldn't be in the 10%...

I bought my Mastertune kit for two bikes for $499...and I believe it is a superior product.

With the Assie dollar at the moment you will pick up a SEPST for around $430-$450 landed at your door. Either http://www.lshd1.com/servlet/Categories or https://www.mandmcycles.com/cart/default.aspx

They don't keep the dongle, you paid for it and its yours, when they load the map you take it with you as it locks to your bike and cannot be used on any other bike.

Sounds like you have been given the wrong info. $180 installation sounds way over the top, it only takes about 10 minutes and you can do it your self.

Price is a factor but if your only going to do the basic tune. Load a canned map and VTune the SEPST will do the job fine.

Steve, correct me if I am wrong but the SEPST will do much the same job as the TTS if you are loading a canned map and VTuning.

Can you record a VTune with the TTS without taking a PC with you like the SEPST. (SEPST, 15 minute recordings are stored on the dongle)

Att the end of the day it all depends on how familiar you are with the software and understand how it works.

Short answer is the TTS is a better tool for the toolbox.... IMHO

If you want to do things yourself, from what I hear you have to be clever and trick the SEPST to set up the ECU with the AFR values you want, for example after you think your done add 5-7% to the VEs. The HD canned maps are for HD accessories only.

The TTS does what you expect it to do, no need to search for undocumented tricks.

They both add life to a bike, the average everyday Joe may not notice the difference. If the cost the same +/- $100, I think the TTS is a better value tool, certainly not perfect, but it is a better tool than the HD products. There are a couple more esoteric things you can adjust with a TTS, but I don't think you'd want to adjust them for a near stock bikes. A lot of guys like the TTS data logging and presentation tools better

There is much confusion about what the current crop of HD products offer, and their differences. You need to be careful or you won't be getting the features you expect. TTS has two choices, USB or Serial connection for the netbook/laptop.... not much confusion, and the factory as well as forum support is excellent. HD support seems to be non-existent.

If you are going to hire someone, spend some time finding a competent tuner and use what he wants.

    Steve,

Thanks for your comments. Appreciate the feed back.
Can you direct me to where you found the information on, "Latest recommendation from HD that after smart tune you must now increase the setting 5 -7%"
I would like to have a read of it.

I have a few questions regarding TTS upgrade.

    1. Will the software be supplied with upgrade?
    2. If I was to upgrade my SEPST to TTS would I be able to run VTunes the same as the SEPST saving to the dongle?
    3. Would I be able to use the SEPST software as well as TTS with upgrade?

Look forward to your comments, Wild

So, can the sespt, actually be fine tuned on the dyno once you have selected which program suits your bike, like adjusting the AFR to suit YOUR actual bike through the different rev ranges, not just some generic download that suits a certain set up on a bike that has some of the same gear as yours???? This is as confussing as all fuck....
