Hi I'm new  to the Harley family and I have just got a new 48 sportster, what I'm looking for is a larger peanut style tank, something that is longer, wider and still has that peanut shape. Now I know I cant buy one strait of the shelf, but does anyone out their know of a place that I could get one made up thats in Australia. The size that I would like it to be is about 16 litres

Probably best to buy another tank so you can keep the original and take it to a panel beater and get them to alter it for you.

There might be other options in the way of steel fabricators but the guy I bought my bike from was a panel beater and he did it to the tank on my bike and to the tank on his new Fat Robert.

I will be riding to Cloncurry  120ks and Camooweal 220ks away. I like the idea of getting one of ebay  and taking it to a panel beater

    Take two tanks

1/ Split one tank length ways through the middle

2/ Cut the centre length ways out of the second tank. You can squeez about 3 inches

3/ weld the centre piece into the two halves of the first tank.

The biggest after Market Peanut Tank is a King Sportster . It holds 13 L , but is only avalaible to fit up to 2003.

Your Bike is EFI and has a Fuel Pump in the Bottom of the Tank, So to fit one of these you would have to get the Bottom of your Tank Grafted in to it, 1 for the Pump and 2 for the mounts. It's the only way..

Partner has a 883 Sportster Low she gets around 240ks out of her 12.5ltr tank, more than enough.

After 200ks you want to stop and have a rest anyway.
