I was looking to upgrade my dri-rider jacket to something that is more suitable for someone who now rides a Harley - the prices on the jackets on the US Harley site are at least half the price of the stock on the shelves in dealers. Only problem is, you have to pick a dealer in the US in order to buy it online? It seems crazy that something that's made in China has to go via the US to get here at half price of what presumably gets shipped straight from China.
Anyway, has anyone bought a jacket or similar from the states? Is it something you'd get through mandm, or should i just suck it up and pay double what our american friends pay?
The 'General Discussions' board on here has a thread on jackets which is pretty good. Its about four pages in.
I too am after a new leather and picked up the following link from the above thread;
http://www.dhgate.com/wholesale/harley+davidson+jacket.html
I think its a Chinese version of ebay, but all reports in the thread say the jackets are spot on for about a quarter of the price. Worth the gamble i'd say and once I decide on the style i'll be ordering one.
I saw some of those, and given a couple of those sites that are on there sell Rolex watches as well, well... I figured they were counterfeit and while that in itself probably ain't so bad, there's a quality question and if I come off, I don't want some counterfeit jacket protecting my bits & pieces? I guess if some of the guys have gotten some and they're happy, then maybe I should just relax - they're so much cheaper it's almost crazy...

dont know what happened there.
i waited....and waited.... and waited........ then they sent me a jacket that said it was medium but was clearly a xxl.
i sent it back and got my cash back. no issues with getting money back it just took ages.
i am trying a new site thing. ill let you know how that goes.
yeah mate the jacket looked the business. had the tags and all. the size was def at least 2 sizes bigger than what the tag said.
the guy was really helpful though, he said that it happens in the factory sometimes. im not bagging dh gate at all, but i would pay a bit extra to get the right thing first time. i have a tracking number from the new site and my jacket has been handed over to customs in GUANGZHOU, so it should be on the plane soon hopefully!
crap for sure I recently got some bits from US and even with freight saved heaps local stealers can't possibly justify prices, they have to make money in US so locals are making lots and won't budge on price so f--k em
I bought a limited edition leather Harley jacket on ebay from St Paul Harley Davidson. The jacket was exactly the same as the one i tried on at my local dealer. The postage that I paid was the same as what the postage was on the item. I also bought a long sleeve dress shirt and that was posted as no additional cost. I paid $450 for the lot including postage and the jacket at my local dealer was $750. I am now in the process of buying a summer jacket and a few more shirts.
St Paul replied to all my emails and had no hassles as all. Would recommend to anyone who might be interested
