Gday from down under,
I snapped off my compensater nut because I turned it the wrong way. Half of ot is left inside my compensater sprocket extension shaft with some thread still left on my crank shaft, how the f@&% am I gonna get this off with out grinding off my extension shaft?
Gday Bob
No picture, but if you can imagine your crankshaft and your compensater extension sprocket shaft, inside that shaft is your crank with about an inch of thread on the end, that last bit of thread has the rest of my comp nut on it. Its in about 1 1/2 inch, too deep to reach with grips. So I can only imagine having to have to grind off the end of my sprocket shaft to the end of my crank to get any type of tool onto it. I,m nearly in tears just thinking about it.My compensater is off so is my sprocket, any
suggestions??
Chris
Who,s Scotty?
Gday Dave,
Yes the compensater assy is completely off, however the comp nut has sheered off right at the crankshaft which in my case is inside my sprocket shaft about inch and 1/2.Dilema is I Have to remove sprocket shaft to get to last section of thread from comp nut to get any type of tool on it.Still crying. Also it is a really good way to learn which way a comp nut comes off!!
Beeza
Cant drill into nut as nut is inside comp sprocket shaft?
By the way your good at those photos
Dave
Not much good with computers let alone taking photos and then putting them on computers, bike is 1987 FXRP apparently an import from US,ex police bike and labelled high speed,Frasers here in Perth say the comp shaft differs from standard FXR and availability may be a problem.
Cheers
Perthhog,

Do you think on an EVO that its important to have one of those breather filter devises on crank case breather pipe or just a standard hose as per factory
yer mate i would use a crank case breather filter it does help reduce oil leaks and oil fumes entering the intake which can produce engine pinging if your mtr breaths a bit if you look in my avator photo just below the rear of the frount ex pipe you can see my chrome breather made by custom chrome it is a bit low there i have to replace about once a year due to being grinded away. but is the best spot cause i get bugger all oil mist on any chrome .
Gday
Ive not blocked if off just have hose attached to crank case pipe. people say your crank case can suck air as well as blow?? Can it??
Another question, Ive heard people talk about a product that they put on their final drive belt to stop noise like a screaching. Is their such a product or is it just lubricant of some sort??
what ever u do dont block off other wise you will have lots of oil leaks the way u have done it is the right way from crankcase to crankcase fiter and bypass going back in to the intake , as for the belt lube i have used silican spray and a bit crc but only last a few hundred ks i have a tube of harley poly lube coming this week which is made for sportstars with the primary belt ,i got the info from another us forum so i will give that a shot in the next few weeks . make sure your belt is lined up and not to tight or loose as thay can make alot of noise
Whats average running temp of oil for an evo ?
