Okay... will be brief but thought I would voice some brief comment on the rdes I had

2007 Lightning Super TT XB12STT  not a bad bike and enjoyed the ride. Did not have the acceleration I expected but did not turn me off wanting a Buell.

2008 FXDF Dyna Fat Bob  had a blast on this bike... ride was very much like my Street Bob, except the seat position is more comfortable. Liked the fat front and the handling that went with it. Only issue was the positioning of the clutch pedal and the forward controls... need to have at least 3" extension for me. The other problem I had was dragging my heal on the tarmac with hard cornering... need steel capped heels :)

2008 Buell 1125 - Liquid cooled Rotax V-Twin  a very gutsy machine and had a ball riding this bike.... two drawbacks - engine is very noisy and it gets very hot. Even with yesterday being a nice day at low 20's I roasted my nuts each time I was sitting at the lights. Loved the torque of the engine and gear change although I only reached 3rd on Roe...

FXSTSSE2 Screamin' Eagle Softail Springer probably the biggest dissapointment of the day... This has the springer front and SE110 engine..... found it was gutless, my Street Bob to have more grunt. Am told that this bike has heavy breather and slash-cut exhaust but found still very restricted. The guy who rode the Dyna variant was impressed with his bike. Also, when I used the front brakes the springer bottomed out. Was quoted that this bike is completely kitted out fo those that want it all... well it certainly needs work.....

Having the opportunity to ride the springer confirmed that staying with the Street Bob was a good choice. I do like the Fat Bob, but given there is little difference between that and my bike it does not warrant an upgrade. It would be cheaper to buy individual components to upgrade the front end. Beside I am partial to the Street Bob rear fender and I could always slot a 180 in the rear....

The 2008 Buell is a much bigger bike Karl... but it was much hotter than the 2007. Still it was a very different bike and I liked it except for noise and heat. BTW there is a writup in the May/June Heavy Duty that makes no mention of the heat issue, but then they were out and about in Victoria.

There were no Rockers available to ride... yet I met a number of people who were waiting on delivery of the Rocker C... it does seem to be popular.

Agree with what people have said... the Duece was one nice bike, what were they thinking!!!

There was also some favourable comments towards the V-Rod. This is something the average punter would not consider and people were impressed with its performance.

All in all I think that the Fat Bob was the bike that attracted the most requests to ride. I took the 2007 Buell on the first ride and two others were left in the stable. All Buells were out on subsequent rides. Was not until I returned from first outing that they brought out the 2008 so had to wait around a while to get a slot. Still I think it was worth the wait.

There were a few non Harley riders along as well.......

Summarising... I am sitting here looking up at my Street Bob and am happy with my lot.... just need an older Buell in the stable as well

Agreed about the stupidity of dropping a proven model from the range, particularly with the Rocker being such an ordinary looking bike - that plastic looking powder coat is farking awful though the chromed version is more acceptable. I know blokes that would have continued to buy Wideglides into the future that wouldn't even consider the Rocker. Shame

Dave... agree with your comments on looks. Some of the CVO's are really cool looking bikes.....

I had a ride on the 08 CVO Dyna a couple of months ago here in Canberra at an open day. The 110 motor definitely has some poke, I have a 95ci Super Glide with 257 cams & SERT, etc. but the CVO pulled stronger. Part of the ride included about 5 k's on the highway...it took off very quickly and suddenly I'm doing 160 klicks. Whats that old saying...there's no substitute for cubic inches!!

Great looking bike, I reckon the bigger front wheel and lowered arse looks fab, better than the Springer's crook 19" front wheel. Mind you, there was still a fair bit of plastic, plus it had the stock exhaust. Not sure I'd fork out the $56 grand!!!
