Just to let the day trippers know, not much happens before 3pm when the gymkana starts, but if ya have ppl to catch up with will be enough to make it worth while, weather forcast is scattered showers, should be a good turn up, continuious stream of bikes comin through town today and saturday is always the bussiest......never seen so many vw trikes in me life.

Have located all the family, My father and brother are maintenance contractors at the mine and nephew is also a miner as well as a few other mates .... we were quite lucky, my father was on leave he had gone fishing, my brother had just finished work and started heading home when it happen, and my nephew through some stroke of luck had pulled a sicky, his shift was supposed to be underground when it happened but he inadvertently saved them too, due to his crew of 4 being down a man they were tasked with working in the bath house on the surface so escaped the blast.

There were a few other good fortune stories coming out as well, a very close mate went looking for his brother who was also supposed be on shift and had disappeared turned out had taken the day off to be with his girlfriend for her birthday - he too should have been underground, there was also another worker who's car broke down on the way to work and didn't get there.

Things are still fairly morbid over there, I know a couple of the guys trapped, my mother has been called into work all weekend, she is a police liaison and watch house manager, my sister in law works for the funeral home and has been on standby all weekend for body recovery, brother is also on standby as part of a back up maintenance crew.

Glad to hear your family is safe Lastrain, i think half the world is praying the trapped miners will get home safely........i didnt get to the rally either, bro couldnt make it, other friends cancelled, builder ( son's mate ) turned up to do the decking on verandah and wife's old friend rocked into town after 20 odd years.
