Howdy,
Just wanted to say g'day to everyone. I've been lurking on the forum for a while now, but my first hog is on its way (pick up from the stealers on Sat) so I decided its about time I officially join the ranks. Got a brand spanking new 2011 Street Bob (denim black) ready and waiting for me with V&H Shortshots (chrome), Stage 1 kit, forward controls and a few other minor bells and whistles. Decided it was best to let the pros do it until I get to know my way around the bike.
I grew up on a farm so I've been riding as long as I can remember but ever since I first laid my eyes on a Harley I've wanted one... bad. You can imagine how much worse that got after I heard one for the first time. The closest I've got was a 97 Suzuki Marauder which was all I could afford at the time, but lets face it, its not really close at all, not even the same ball park. I hired a Harely a little while back (Motorbike Hire/P&L Toongabbie, great bunch) hoping to scratch the itch till I could afford my own. It didn't just scratch the itch it spead it like bad rash. I had a chubby the whole time and that was nothing to do with the engine vibrating (ok, maybe a little). For too many years I've either been to broke, to busy, travelling, etc, etc, etc, but decided I couldn't bear to see another sunny weekend go by without a Harley, so I finally took the plunge. Screw the debt, what's the point of working if you can spend your cash on the things you want most.
Anyway, love the forum, great banter and great information. I'll probably start pestering you all with questions but hopefully it won't be too long till I can contribute as well. Pick my streety up this saturday. Don't know what i'm looking forward to the most. Hearing her fire up for the first time, or watching my neighbours cat have a coronry.
First question: Anyone know a way I can quit my job and earn a living riding?
Cheers,
Chris
Welcome mate,
picked up by bob not long ago. You'll have a ball
Welcome to the forum Chris.
Welcome

Welcome Chris hope you enjoy the forums and congrats on your first harley.
Trivett's in Alexandria, Sydney. Must admit they've been really good through the whole process. I wasn't really a tough sale though cause I knew I was going to buy and exactly what I wanted. Just had to find the best deal. I'll throw a shout out to them on the good dealer topic once I finally sign on the dotted line.
Now all I need is for the bloody rain to piss off. I have no qualms riding in the rain, just not sure if its the best conditions for breaking in the engine.
Thanks for all the welcomes everyone.
Woke up on Sat morn and it was absolutely pissing it down. Though I might as well go and throw my John Hancock on all the paperwork and get that out of the way so when the weather did clear I would be all good to go. By the time I had that done that and picked up a few obligatory bits and bobs from the shop, a slither of sunshine was poking through so I thought, stuff it, I'll brave the weather and take her on her maiden voyage. Anyway, several hours later after escaping the Tetris like city traffic to the Royal National Park, I returned home a little bit wet but happy as a c#ck in a c*nt shop.
Woke up Sunday to glorious sunshine, threw the gear on and hit the road again. Of course in my excitment I forgot sunscreen so by the time I got home I resembled a very happy racoon. Oh well, no pain, no gain and I'll certainly remember that for next time.
A few more weekends like this and i'll be in for my first service in no time.
Chris.
