Like eating a shit sandwich, if you are hungry enough will stop the feeling, but leaves a bad taste in your mouth

at 10% GST it will still be cheaper to import,
as an example, we complain about HD Australia with huge prices versus the states, this is why we import, if they were not so bloody greedy, (i cant speak for all) I would buy locally, now that they realize we are better off they want the government to be the bad guy and impose tariffs or impose tax's.
HD America done this with their gov. a couple of times as they could not compete with the English and Japanese markets,

our retailers are just plain greedy,

I can't see this happening anytime soon. The logistics required to pull this off will be way too much to contend with. Every single package that lands would need to be scrutinised - not likely.

No matter what happens, all the goods coming out of china will still be marked as $100 on the package to beat customs - and the fact that customs will be even more swamped means they will all get through anyway.
