I guess so. In January we went all the way down the Putty, stopping at Colo, then at the Halfway House. If it's cool with everyone, let's do it again!! It was a great experience and we had about twentyfive bikes on the day..BTW, we have'nt had a decent ride for a while,  and December is always busy with work and family commitments,

Good luck mate, I can relate although my young bloke is a grown up 17 now, and hanging out with Dad is not so cool anymore. In saying that, yes, our passion is a dangerous one and you can't be thinking about the negatives everytime you get on the bike. What's the point if you're not enjoying it?

Suggestion for Obi. Get the boat with an inboard and install a HD 110 engine with a couple a noisy pipes. Best of both worlds!

Obi I am your new best friend. Aplogies for sort of hijacking the thread. I'll also post this in the general section in case anyone picks up on it. Here are two devices I found in the US patent office (I searched just for you - ever committed to a forum member):

    AMPHIBIOUS MOTOR BIKE
    United States Patent 3709185

An amphibious motor bike in which collapsible pontoons may be inflated and removably secured to the sides of the motor bike for supporting it on a body of water and at a position where the water level will be not higher than the lower one-third portion of the rear wheel. The pontoons are sectionalized and can be removed from the motor bike sides and deflated and collapsed like an accordion and then mounted in carriers arranged at the sides of the motor bike. A linear and flexible water paddle has articulated sections which permit it to be removably mounted on the rear tire of the motor bike so as to be rotated thereby and thus propel the motor bike over the body of water. A rudder can be moved from inoperative into operative position and it will be actuated by the operator manipulating the handle bars for steering the vehicle over the water.

    MOTORCYCLE BOAT
    United States Patent 3854436

Motorcycle boat has flotation, propulsion, and steering components and is arranged to demountably receive a motorcycle. The motorcycle is positioned and demountably secured on the boat in such a manner that the propulsive power of the motorcycle turns the propulsive equipment of the motorcycle boat, and the steering of the motorcycle controls the steering components of the boat.
