Hi guys

Is there any difference between the flush mounted gas caps for Aussie bikes? I have one here that does not fit but MnM says it's the right one. The problem is it just will not screw in. Any ideas?

No idea but got flush mounts on my 08 Fatboy (Part No: 62823-08A) Although part number has been changed to 62823-08B Since I got mine about a year or so ago.
Can't see why the gas tank will be any different in Aus.

i just fitted some to my 09 fatty, fuel filler side is bloody tight to screw in, way tighter than the original, but it does screw in

Hmm. Tight is right. I can only get it in a half turn. Mine is a 6823-08a.

It just feels like it will break if I try any harder.

I would try it in an 08 and see how it fits.

Mine screws in just like the standard cap.

A mate has an 08 so I will try again in the morning and if not try his 08.

 

It actually looks too long to fit before it would bottom out at the end of the spout.

62823-06A suits 04-07 Roadking

2008 manual quotes part number 62823-08 roadking 08 and later,

2011 manual quotes part number 62823-08A suits 08 and later roadking and softail (except rocker)

 Ok - I definitely have the wrong model.

just checked the length of mine, old against new and they are the same , and the part number on the box of the ones i fitted, 62818-08, went straight on to 09 fatty

 I fixed it!!

 

I took to it with a dremel and cut the extra length off.  Now it fits like a finger in a bum!  No leaks no nothing!!

well fuck me, why didn't ya do that in the first place, all this pain and heartache could have been avoided, HAHAHA

Yeah I know... I just wasn't sure it would fit and then I would be stuck with a half dremelled fuckup that was only good for the bin!

Ahh well... all worked out in the end!
