Has anyone here pulled this out to do a total scavange of the oil?

I did it the other day and now ive got a couple dribbles of oil coming out when i ride from under the crome cap. I did find a little rubber o ring on the floor after pulling it out but not sure where it goes, so i slipped it over the clip just on the inside or is it supposed to go onto the end lip of the line if you know what i mean??

    FRUSTRATED!

I have done that in the past, but never seen an o'ring. Just check that you have put the return lines back in place correctly. They should click into place when you put the lines back in. I know the Chrome cover has an O ring inside it to hold it in place but not the actual line itself. Also you may find that you have let some oil drip into the return hole in the tank and it is leaking back out so maybe it will disappear after a while.

Just checked mine and no oring on the oil return line.  I would check to see it you have seated the line properly in the tank.

What year ? my 2007 softail has 2 '0' rings at the tank, 1 stayed in the tank when line was removed & the other stayed on the plastic clip with the line, replaced both.

    cheers

yer right Yob, I just checked the manual and it shows 2 o'rings. As I don't use the tool to remove the oil lines I don't see the O'Rings..

    Hi
    Chilly
If you buy a Harley part no 63783-00 it makes the job easy as to replace, comes with 2 'o' rings, new plastic clip & spacer between the 'o' rings.
I found part of the second 'o' ring cut twisted in the oil tank when i removed.
the 63783-00 pushes in the tank then pull out the centre pin where the oil line will go & the return line will push in with ease.
you only need the 1 kit as it has 2 connectors.

    cheers
