Nightster Exhaust Advice

    Hey Guys,

    Have a Nightster on order and looking for some advice. Have my heart set on a pair of V&H Black Short Shots and have the following prices;

    Pipes........$675.00

    A/C.........$275.00

    H/D Race Tuner..$707.00

The race tuner rather than V&H fuel pack is their suggestion. These prices are excluding fitting which has been estimated at 3hrs & I'm sure Harley charges about $90.00 an hour.

I dont plan on racing or dragging my bike so I think the race tuner is overkill. The V&H fuelpack should be ok shouldn't it?

Given the strength of the $AUD, should I be looking online for the parts?? ( I can save $200 on a leather jacket via Amazon, $550 delivered opposed to $750 here), and get it fitted locally.

I like to deal with my local dealer & give them my financial support. I don't mind them making a profit either, however I feel they are trying to stich me up on this. No discount on the bike is ok...I understand, but you can't expect loyalty at full retail!!

Look forward to your thoughts. Cheers.

check out chicagoharley . com... With the US dollar being almost 1-for-1, the prices are really worth the effort.
the racetuner cost me well under $500.

Look on US ebay you will save a good $200 to $300 on the pipes. The V&H Fuelpak is a good stage 1 solution, I used to have one and it ran fine. It's no good if you're looking at doing engine mods to your bike later on. But if you already have a 1200 there's not much you need to do anyway.

I have a Nightster and planning to also get the V&H Black side shots after I've done my first service...

I've done a load of research and the ones on the US ebay are about the cheapest and way cheaper than you can get in Aus - saving on what you've quoted will be almost $300.

I looked at the fitting guide from V&H and if you're slightly handy with a screw driver and a spanner it shouldn't take you long to bolt the exhausts on.

You'll love the bike when you get, I got min for occasional use and ride it every day rain or shine....

Ditto what outbak suggested on racetuner. Spend the dollars you save for a good dyno to get it dialled in just right.

G'day Andy, Thanks for the advice mate. Any Idea how long the postage takes from U.S? I'm about to order a HD leather jacket from St Paul HD in the US & thought I might save on shipping by putting some pipes with it ....as long as it isn't 3 months?

Thanks for the input guys. I pick my Nightster up in a week now. Vivid Blk, Blk V&H Short Shots,Dobeck, S/E A/C & forward controls. I'm going without the baffles to start with. Thanks again.
