Importing Exhausts

    Hey all,

New here so please take it easy. I want to put a new exhaust on my '04 Nightrain. Everyone has V&H so was thinking something else to be a little different. I really like the big radius look but the options are limited. So far I have found Freedom Sharp Radius, Python Venom Radius and V&H obviously. I wanted Hooker Troublemakers but they seem to be no longer. With the dollar so high is it worth importing directly from the USA? Any things to look out for? Seems straight forward.

    Thanks in advance

    Hey Walka,

Do hooker still make them? If there is a warranty issue it may prove diffucult to resolve. Not sure. Do you have any chrome ones? Have heard good and bad about them. Any other options? I am about 2 hours East of Perth so freight will add to that I guess. It seems freight out of the US will be about $150.00 to the door. This is similar to getting them accross Aus! Go figure.

    Any advice appreciated.

Well there you go. Learn something new every day. Why do some say the twin pipes make you loose power when they advertise an increase of 10-20%. I have SE2 slip ons at the moment.

Many factors and engine mods etc to consider, but, dunno about a loss of power, but generally a 2into2 system wont perform on the dyno sheet as well as a 2into1....

I suppose performance is not such a big issue with an 88ci HD. It does go good with 211 cams, SE ignition module and slip ons but 84hp is nothing to write home about i guess. Might as well make some noise and take a bit longer getting there!

Just got to convince myself BLACK is the new chrome!!!!! Apparently.

Couple of years back I priced a set of "fishies" for the Springer. Round about $1800 ex East to WA. The bloke who quoted did the rightie and was very helpful. The reality at the time was that for the same money, I bought the same pipes, a seat, sissy bar and apes landed from the US. Phoned the retailer and made sure everything was tickety boo and had no trouble with taxes (might've been more luck than judgement. It was a big box it came in in).

Well I have a few options. Comparing apples I am after a chrome 2 + 2 big radius style.

    J & P Cycles can do Hooker Troublemakers for $460US + freight.

    M & M Cycles can do Python Venom Radius for $485US + freight $127US

Can get Freedom Sharp Curve Radius locally for $1100 or ex East $960 delivered

If I didn't want chrome it would be easier. What ya all Think?

If you are looking at the Python Radius, why not the VnH Radius! I love mine. I always wanted that look, so there was no other pipes for me. I have had them on for 2000ks now and love em.

Exactly. EVERYONE has them. I have nothing against them just wanted something other than V&H.

Yeah - but of they look the same - why bother chasing crap around, when the VnH are tried and tested!!

    True. One question, are V&H 2 1/2" or 2" ?

Dony know, but this on the VnH site...

Never before has such style delivered this level of performance. Big Radius set the standard for a custom look but with the quality and perfection you would expect from Vance & Hines. Featuring beautifully curved 2 1/2” full-coverage heat shields, artistically scalloped end tips, blue proof show quality chrome and O2 sensor mounts to fit the 2007 Softail models.

    + one for VnH.

Although - I just went out to have a look at what I need to do to put my new braided lines on that will be here this week, and it seems I am going to have to drop the Big Radius to get the clutch cable in. :(

What is the commercial arrangement between HD and V&H? May be a silly question.
