How ya going, I am thinking about reconditioning transmissions for Harleys. I don't know much about Harleys or bikes in general but I know alot about cutting gears and the fitting and turning side of things. I want to see if i can get my hands on some crunched or otherwise stuffed transmissions and bring them back to life. I was hoping somebody could give me some ideas on which ones are worth putting effort into fixing and if so where in the melbourne area i might get my hands on thrashed gearboxes. Thanks.

Fuck me I wouldn't drop a washing machine at 6500 rpm, but like I said I'm ignorant when it comes to bikes. thanks for your reply crasher, yeah I thought that might be the case. If ya need a hand with something we've got a gear hobber that'll cut up to 5 in diameter. And we could probably handle some of the simpler internal work and dog clutch stuff. Also got a cnc mill with a 100mm3 cutting space if you can think of anything for it. Anywayz I was just putting it out there, kind of frustrating when you got a workshop sitting there not doing anything, as it is just a domestic set-up, left-overs from my dads old engineering business. If you got any other ideas for me to put these machines to work, they would be greatly appreaciated. Cheers.
