Darn. Another one lost. Sorry mate. Hard to figure out from this what happened by possibly turned in front of the rider. The Hurt Report in America on rider accidenst said that this is by far the most common cause of bike crashes (usually at traffic lights though).

A motorcyclist died after a collision with a four-wheel drive being driven by a 92-year-old man in Sydney's northwest, police say.

Officers are still trying to piece together how the accident unfolded, but say the vehicles were travelling in opposite directions on a West Ryde road ahead of the 11.25am (AEDT) smash yesterday.

The driver of the four-wheel drive may have been trying to make a right-hand turn from Victoria Road into Adelaide Street, police said.

Following the crash it left the road and smashed into a nearby brick fence.

Paramedics treated the 28-year-old motorcyclist at the scene but he later died at Westmead Hospital.

Both vehicles were seized for mechanical examination.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

My step father is a top bloke, but 90 years old. Backed the car out of his garage, hit the accelerator instead of the brake, through the fence, dropped down about a metre, through a clothes line and crashed through the wall of the neighbour's house. No one hurt but I thought at least now the car is a total write off he won't be driving again. Got a ticket for neg driving, took the insurance cheque and bought another car. Straight back on the road. I can understand why it is a big blow to your pride and independence to lose your license but bloody hell.

A few years ago on Bribie Island QLD an old guy reversed his car and lost control then ran over two pedestrians , one ended up with a bicycle rack pushed through their leg and another (woman & mother) was killed.

Supposedly the 'vehicle turning right across path of motorcycle' is the most commom cause of bike prangs in this Country (True? dunno, heard the stat at a Rider Training day).

If correct this particular incident is likely another, "I didnt see the bike - it wasn't there when I started the turn" type story - and not so much the age of the bloke.

There's plenty of motorcycle un-aware Drivers of all ages out there.

    Just sayin'...
