Should I do it?

     OK,

so, I'm thinking, do I sell my lux or spend the bucks????? Trade in would be low and resell would take forever

I love riding this thing but the brakes etc give me the shits

I can get it to go around corners by changing my riding style to hanging off the opposite side to the corner (counter balance) and that works well for me; even if other riders think WFT are you doing but they only day that when I stop to let them catch up LOL

If I keep it I want to fix the brake issue as best I can; currently run braided lines & stock, thinking, up-date M/C add full floating rotor and PM 6 pot & 4 pot at rear

Next, do the rear suspension, done the front with new springs and much better now. No sure where to go with the rear

Then, if I have done this then maybe do the bling thing; new bars, Fat spoke wheels, air cleaner, Fuel pak and true dual exhaust and seat (it already has all the standard bling thing, some I like some...well)

Then if I do that I my as well change the cams out to compensate for the dual pipes

Would have to sell my Triumph 1050 which I never get to ride anyway to do it to fund the cost but if I was to up-grade I would have to do that (sell Trumpy )anyway

End result would be this............. what would you do

    Cheers

Dicko me mate, thats not my bike yet, that is what I am considering doing, I wish it was my bike
It will cost me around $5,000 to do this and other than getting a good answer on the brakes, everything else is really just a both on
Thank the man upstairs that the aussie dollar is strong so ordering from the US is the way to go

Sorry if I confused you, the pic is the inspiration

The other thing to consider Poddy is the extra bikes comin in to Oz with the way the dollar is, it will be way harder to sell urs and if u buy new how much customizing will u do to the new bike. If it was me (and its not) I d be goin after that pic u posted that looks stunning. If I spent 5000 and ended up with that pic, I would be a happy boy. Look froward to seein the pics

guys, went to the Stealers today and they told me, sight unseen, doesn't matter what it has or anything, that my 2006 Deluxe is worth $16,000 as a trade in, as they would need to sell it for $24,000 for them to make a profit

    This was for a $36K Ultra -

    :-( Fuck that

If you want to slam your deluxe like dan's pic you'll need an air ride. Check out Shotgun Shock
And that would solve your suspension.
    It's the ducks guts.

    Thanks for the feedback guys,
its a bit of a call either way I go, trade up and be raped on price or sell low for a quick sale; customise seems the way I'll go, at least I get the joy of doing it.

Why is it that if your bike has over 20,000 klms on it the stealer runs away - knobheads or do they know something we don't know?

The Triumph ST should sell quick as its a popular bike and mine has titanium pipes, up-graded brakes, tint, and is set up for touring.
If I get $9K for a quick sale I'll be happy

Then blow the lot on the Harley and keep the bike in the family, hell, even my sons my want it in the future

Now to up-grade the shopping list and start to get more quotes

    Cheers

Poddy , I was fair dinkum ,if your brakes and suspension aren't up to the job there's probably to much weight on the bike.If you're going to ride a 300+kg motorcycle with the notion of beating all comers then you had better be one fit calf. Mick Doohan used to record 200 beats per minute during a race. If you want to be a boy racer, keep the trumpy.

Mate days of boy racing ending sometime ago, as for cornering, its the mid corner harley buck that I hate, can't seem to get it to hold a good line unless I counterbalance the bike
Yeah I ride it hard (some say) but only to what I think is 80% of me and the bike
Was out looking at the bike tonight and am thinking, it may be the spring weight on the rear that is the issue as oppose to the actual shocks; dunno
As for the brakes, well, sorry I think they are fucked for a 300kg bike - simple - the motor company should be shot

As for being fit, well, I'm fitter than a dead man LOL

    Cheers

i have a heritage - gave up long ago trying to get it to "perform" if you dont like it around corners may i suggest that you are riding it faster than it was built for - nothing will change that . i've beef up suspension , progressive springs up front , better pads , but its all cosmetic really ... just a fricken wast of money imo to make the thing go "better" .

if you do heaps of riding outta town then your only choice is a tourer if you have the bucks . if you are a cafe latte man that only takes it out for a staurday show n shine then just spend the money on more chrome and be happy.

why u would sell a trumpy to improve a Deluxe performance is a waste .... arent ya glad ya asked for opinions

Happy with all the comments and advice, good & bad (not that any of it has been bad)

The only reason I have to sell one of the bikes is because I bought a new toy, a Nissan 370z Gen2 which means I have 5 regos & 5 insurances to pay for cars and bikes.

As I said, don't ride the Trumpy too much since my bike accident did my knees, hence I bought the Deluxe

I posted earlier that a trade is only worth $16K so why would anyone buy another $36K bike, get 20K Klms on it to be worth another loss down to $16K a couple of years later if you wanted to change or move bikes

I'll spend $5k on the deluxe to try and improve things, if it works good, if not, its $5k for the fun of doing it and invest the balance of what I get for the Trumpy

My bike has most of the bling thing done so its only wheels, brakes, rotors, pipes, air cleaner, fuel pak and handle bars, got everything else thats in the pic I posted

Ah..........such is life with a wife LOL
