G'day all, I have always liked the Victory motorcycles even before you could get them in Australia so want I am asking anyone here owned, ridden one, or knows someone with one of these bikes and if so what are they like, now before I get anyone throwing stones at me saying this is a Harley forum and why am I asking about the Victory I live outside a major city and there are no Victory motorcycles in my area but there could be owners in your area I just like any feedback about these bikes from someone who lives in Australia and rides on our roads not the U.S. and I love my Harley's but life is short and one day if I had the money I like to try a Victory and if it wasn't the bike for me I be buying a Softail Standard cheers.

It all comes down to taste, there are many pretenders out there, I saw one up close and personal weekend just gone, it really had a plastic feel about it even tho this bloke had dropped over 15k on upgrades. It really didnt look anywhere near as good as some of the more standard softies around it, most people walked past it like it was another jappa. The guy raved about the better performance over HD and breaking, handling etc. but, so do all the jappa owners to justfy their purchase.

Even when he took of and gave it a bit of stick, while it was loud, it wasnt a Harley....He could have saved all that money & bought a honda fury & got a better reaction...

I dont & have never had the need to justify it....Its a fucken Harley, nuff said

Mate, I rode one for a day (sort of, on and off 400klms) and I hate to say it but in the "bang for buck" they shit over my bike. A firend sold his harley for one and very happy

These are like jap bikes, great engine, brakes and handling, very much like the Triumph Thunderbird, better in every respect except one - SOUL

Now, I've only had my bike for a year and I believe that I have become an EXCELLENT rider owning a Harley - Why I hear you ask, nah you didn't ask but I'm going to tell you anyway LOL

Its  Softail but also had a soft front end (fixed that) and lots of soft cocks buy them but I like to think that I ride it as a soft cock on viagar LOL Hard and Willing

My harley has no brakes - only 'slowdown stopping power but I still ride fast, just leave it to the man up stairs to cover my ass

My Harley handles like a Virgin - no idea what to do so I have to lead it in every corner, so I hang off the opposite side of the corner and sit up others ass

My Harley has the power of a victor lawn mower - so I have lots of bling that shines in their eyes and get the jump on them LOL

My Harley is like everyone elses.... simple in design and simply fun to ride

All this shows that a Harley has soul, becasue they don't stop well or go around corners (softails that is) you really need to know what you are doing or ride like a duck

As for Victory, Triumph or any Jap bike they have nailed the design except "SOUL" which is like the X factor, not everyone can have it.

If you buy a Victory you'll be smiling cuz any bike should make you smile:-) but if ya buying it for bragging rights, you be better off buying a gaint dildo and hang it off you scooter

Anyway.... I like it and would drop coin on it as I would for most bikes

    Cheers

    Poddy

Dave from the burley bars on the gold coast has a very smart looking victory, it might be that his quality handlebars just make it look good.

Thanks for the replies so far had a good ride on my Sporty today with a few mates all Harley's and no rain for a fucking change nothing beats that feeling of a pack of Harley's riding together and it's been a while since I been on a good ride but like I said before the Victory is a interesting bike to me I did read a couple of Victory forums before them seem to have a bit of gearbox trouble and not much backup from the dealers and this is U.S. sites, Hmmm the Softail Standard is looking better all the time when I find the spare cash but very happy with my 1200 Sporty at this time cheers.

Mate just bought a 'Victory Hammer S'. Got a ride on it today and she goes like stink, then anything does next to mine at the moment. 106ci off the shelf. He has an after market exhaust and on start sounds like a Boulevard but when he opens it up she sounds good. Made by Polaris. Stopped at Kilcoy for lunch and the only blokes looking at it were ninjas. I'd buy one as a toy no probs. Spoke to Dave from Burleigh Bars about his when at a pub on a ride and he raved about it but i understand he sold his just recently. I understand Arlen Ness has a lot to do with them.

Makes sense to me that someone would try to put put out a US rival for HD - a big American twin with a modern approach. You'd reckon it would knock of HD, but then again Harley were smart to not yet try rolling out the VRod engine into the regular models because for whatever reason we are so in love with  the bloody old things. There is just something so raw about them that a modern bike can't replicate. Not knocking the Victory, just in wonder at the Harley magic. Never to be replicated. (A good point though to go to a Victory forum to get away from us obsessive HD freaks).

i've sat on one, twiddled all the dials , played with all the switches, moved the bars back and forwards, made strange noises ( just to piss off the salesman) and there is just something that made me say to myself, " it just aint a harley "

G'day all, the reason I started this post here is because there are so many members from all around Australia and they may know someone who rides a Victory and like Poddy's reply his mate has just bought one and I know there are Victory forums but they are all U.S. sites I just wanted to hear what Aussie owner felt about these bikes and this post is no disrespect to any Harley Davidson owner I bloody hope not I have owned seven of them myself and still own one now I just wanted some friendly banter about the other U.S. manufacturer's motorcycles and thats all and so far so good cheers.

hey choco one of me mates bought the first victory cross country from rollies(brisbane) first one in Queensland, I had the pleasure of riding down from brisbane to the gold coast on its maiden voyage in the pissing down rain. The cross country is in direct competition with the street glide. Was a bit hard to open it up been brand new and pissing down on new tyres. Its quite an impressive package.106 ci overhad cam, they have a gear driven primary which is a bit noisey compared to my kingy but that might quieten down with more kms on it. its a 6 speed box with six been a true overdrive so once a gain there is a bit more noise from the box compared to harleys direct drive six (my 07 Kingy)styling well thats a bit more personal and probably not what i look for in a bike, the fairing design (fixed) offered great protection and the saddle bags have a ton of room. The box is a right side drive and trans pulley is easily acessed. It has radio and mp3 connection and full set of gauges that are nicely displayed. No abs available at this stage. rear shock is hidden like the softtail but sits vertically and is air adjusted, front forks are inverted with twin floating disks. Front brake reservoir looks a bit cheap but does the job. Seat was comfy and certainly no need for an upgrade even two up, the only extra he bought was a sissy bar and rack. I think it was around 3 grand cheaper than the street glide but have no idea on what the resale would be like. All in all though it aint a Harley which is what I prefer--but hey I wouldnt right them off--it has two wheels and thats what it is all about imo--cheers Grim

My only 'Victory experience' is a 20 minute test ride at the Gold Coast Bike Show earlier this year. Don't mean much? Well, I fell in love with Harleys after my first 20 minute test ride!

I enjoyed the Victory ride but it wasn't anything spesh - just another Cruiser; and like all showroom bikes it needs decent pipes to bring out the noise.

For me the biggest put-off was the styling; it screams 'Arlen Ness'.

To me every Victory model is all ultra modern swept back flowy stuff. And that's OK if you're a fan of Arlen Ness styling ...

But I'm not - and I chose to ride 'the Classic' as this is their idea of ... well, classic! Nup, all too moderistic Star Wars & Jap Cruiser looking for me.

So yeah, for me it was just another Cruiser; it didn't have the 'soul' like ya get with Harleys.
