    Hi Clarkie,
The Andrews A grind's lift is .450, stock Shovel lift is .390.
Because of the valve guides fitted on 80 and 81 models, they are restricted to a .430 maximum lift.
This cam should be a bolt in on an 83. Make sure by checking your VIN.
    Cheers,
    Cris.

That's correct Clarkie , once you are looking at older bikes you never know what swaps have been made.

Anyway, after swapping cams to the A grind you should find it idles as stock, but don't fall into the

"let's make it idle under 900rpm, so it makes the lovely po ta to, pause   po ta to sound", this will cause the

oil flow to fall to bugger all. End result, stuffed engine. Hydraulics are fine, and your mid range and top end

should  improve. Having an 83, your oil pump will be adequate, but I would not recommend this cam on

    a pre 80 engine.

    Cheers,

    Cris
