Hi , Ive gort a 2010 fatboy that ive ridden for 8500ks so far and  had it in for service the other day . When they had finished and I was paying for  they mentioned that the rear tyre was getting low and needed replacing SOON . Found out the cost of a new Dunlop $350 fitted , Bullshit . Anyway can someone tell me of a tyre that has good grip but gets better than 10,oook before they are un-roadworthy .

the Dunflop on my 09 fatty lasted 16000klm and thats with all types of riding ,     you are obviously riding to hard   , replaced it with a Dunlop Sportmax, slightly cheaper and supposedly better mileage, time will tell

200 rear will do that to a tyre . Monaro - im staggered that you could get 16k !!!!! i wont question it, but what sort of tyre pressure did you run ? and did you check every week ( or thereabouts )

    Be happy you don't shoe a Rocket III.  Rear $420 = 5-8000KM Front $330 = 10000K, but still fun.....

Got 10500KM from my 200 rear on the bones (plenty left when changed). You could try the D401 tread pattern, many bones owners get good mileage off them.

Well i must say $350 fitted is much better than what i got charged last friday at a harley dealer at blacktown last friday, day 1 of a three day tour and had a flat so went to the shop as the tyre could not be repaired as the leak was a delamination so no plug, they could fit me in so i was very happy but after being charged $485 fuggin dollars for there assistance i was speechless oh yeah they told me that i had two sheered of exhaust brackets studs but hey cudnt fix that as they were to busy.....................

Thats a bit rude. I paid $400 for my last Dunlop white wall  on my Deluxe and at 8000kms its almost stuffed.

Been quoted $300 for an Avon white wall at C & R at revesby.

I am up for a new back Tyre, and am thinking of giving the Continental Brand a go. Has anyone run these tires on the bike? Some of the reviews are showing good wear and grip

3 Dunlops and 2 Avon Cobras - 5000km (and a bit) each.  Now on a Pirelli. So far I've done 2500km on it and so far so good. Majority (99%) of my riding is 100k/hr+ highway due to the area I live. I will find a tyre that lasts!!!!

Bike has done 31000km  in 3 years...... tyre number 6!  all at $380+ and $730 rego and $680 insurance. Jeez that around $2k+ a year...and then there is fuel...services...parts.......fark. Now I know why I'm broke!

Ive got an 09 Fatty with 30K on it. Ive tried Dunlop and Avon Cobras. Cant get anymore than 8K and as low as 5K. Just fitted another Dunlop last week and did 1750 klms over a 3 day weekend. Gets expensive. My friend is trying the pirelli night dragon, will wait and see. If anyone comes up with a better wearing tire id be keen.

Hey Ralph Z, hope I breakdown or need help near Blacktown they sound pretty bad. I had the opposite experience down Albury way, Phils garage bent over backwards when I got into trouble.

Hi Phar kin maddas , thanks for your reply . What are the Dunlops that the bike comes with if not 408's . Mate I would be happy with 14/16000k's out of my tyres . At least then I would not have to replace the tyres every service or every year . I dont ride extremely hard , I do push it in corners but not too extreme so thats why I was so surprised when told at the 8500 mark that the tyre was getting to the replacement stage . If I dont get any more recommendations I think I will go with the 407 Dunlop .

I have been shopping around a bit lately, I have managed just over 9500 km's on the rear and reckon I'll be real lucky too see out 11000, front wont be far off either - kinda let it run low pressure for too long and almost stuffed it - oops!

Guy at the shop reccommends going another D407, he said Avons are real good but don't last long and cost just the same, all good if I'm gunna flog the guts out of it and want something that hangs on otherwise stay with Dunlops.

I have seen Dunlop sportmax in a 200 series on the web ... has anybody tried these? are they any good? get the impression they should do better mileage but may sacrafice grip?

Haven't heard much about the Pirelli Nightdragons yet ????

Also Harley have just changed suppliers so we should see another brand making 200 series - can't remember but think they have gone to Mitchellin ???
