    Howdy all,

Iv been doing some work up on the Gold Coast lately, and this long weekend just gone ( NSW ) I headed back up Thursday, but thought id take the bike as I had Sunday and Monday off, thought I'd go for a ride around beautiful Gold Coast.

Anyway rode the bike to load up on the ute on Thursday and headup Thurs night, bike was perfect, had been ridden twice this week already.

I trek off up to QLD, and cop an absolute torrent of rain.... I unloaded the bike Friday, only to discover the battery appeared flat.

Tried roll start down a hill. but no good.

So tried jumping it... eventually got to charge & turn over.

    But will not fire.......

My mate run it up to Morgan & Wacker for me yesterday arvo as I had to take off to Sydney, and the service technician, took one quick look, tired to start and said, no good. Dont want to touch it further.

After a quick chat, he explained he noticed it had a power commander and he said they have caused them alot of problems and they pretty much wont touch them.

After that he bypassed the power commander and tired running the factory ECU by itself, but still no go. He seems to think computer has shit itself...

It turns and back fires every now and then but that is all.

Fuel Pump is working, u can see it spitting a flame or unburnt fuel every so often.

Can anyone shed some light on this ?

I had one of the connectors to the hand controls come adrift (my own fault). The bike would crank but not fire . Have you changed the handle bars or done any thing that could have broken a wire?

Handle bars were changed to after market burliegh bars 12months ago.

I will check connections, but nothing obvious hanging off.

Does anyone think that the vast amount of water would have affected the computer ?

    Yeh quite possibly something loose.
I'll have to pull the battery and that apart see what I can come up with.

Air filter is stock 96ci set up.
    Will check for water damage.
I'll take plugs out aswell while im at it, see if they got wet.

Few people have said copping water at 100km/h for 12hours on the back of the ute was sure to cause some water soak in the connections....

So many people have different opinions on this, hard to know where to start.

yeah , just ignore the chip issue . just realised back of ute so the ride would have been softer and the fact that you can turn it over probably means that it is water ( not something loose ) . so , patience and time is now your friend.

So play the waiting game and see if it dries out ?

I'll pull plugs and filter apart and check connections around ECU and P/Commander.

    Well....

Pulled air filter and plugs out, found 1 stuffed plug.. that was all tho.
Replaced with a nice set of Screaming Eagle Plugs.

Ignition on, hit the starter and boom...... it fired like nothing was ever a problem.

A combination of water and bad plugs maybe??
Who knows.... just really glad its going with out have to go the shop.

Thanks to all for their input

All this makes you wonder how clever some dealer service depts are.... Anything that is not bog standard out of the box and they're fucked. I had the same issue ten / twelve years ago with the local dealer service dept. They blamed everything that wasn't stock for the fault and it turned out to be something their people did during a repair. Bike was laid up for months.

Yeh thats for sure. pretty dissapointing hey.
In my case, you think they would have checked the basics, spark and fuel etc.
I didnt have any tools on me at the time, If I did I would have pulled the plugs, checked fuel lines etc... just the basics

It gives me the shits the way dealers blame anything on the bike that is not branded HD and try to make out that an aftermarket part is always the cause of any problem that eventuates with the bike.
