A group of us are going  to travel from Perth to Mt Magnet via the new Lancelin Cervanties extension to Indian Ocean Drive overnighting at Mt Magnet and then commuting to Perth the next day Via Paynes Find and Wubin.

The ride will happen on the weekend commencing 23rd of October - anyone interested get back to me for accomodation bookings if you don't want to book for yourself.

Cutoff for accomodation bookings is 20th October 2010.

Dave  - I might need your tool kit on this run.....cant' promise the free wine tasting and Jazz band as per my last run but who knows what we will end up with !

A month ago I rode to Mt Magnet on the Saturday and back to Perth the next day. Both directions were via Wubin and Paynes Find. On the Sunday morning there were +20 sleeping Kangaroos on the road between Mt Magnet and Paynes Find. Carnage! So take care.

The amount of oversize loads on Gt Northern is ridiculous at the moment so be careful fellers.

"We got two at 7.5m coming your way northbound"

"we just overtook two at 5.2m have fun with them shortly!"

    cheers

For those who are undecided the plan is to depart from the BP at the corner of Wanneroo Rd and Ocean Reef Drive at 08:00 on Saturday the 23rd.

Going to ride to Lancelin; Green Head via Indian Ocean Drive; thru to Eneabba; stop at a mates farm for a feed on the way to Three Springs then Mt Magnet via Morowa and Yalgoo.

There is about 45km of gravel on the Morowa to Yalgoo section - currently being graded

Overnight at the Commercial and back to Perth on the 24th

Getting ready to depart..... 7 riders started but one rider had to pull out after 3km due to a flat front tyre

Found an abandoned Gold mine on the dirt between Morowa and Yalgoo...and for those that don't know, Granny glides handle like crap on loose pindan bulldust tracks!

Total trip length was 1352 km over two days perfect riding weather with a slow start to day two - hardly any traffic over the two days ...  two Road Trains and one Semi is all we passed and the only wildlife were birds and a few goats.

Looks like you had a good run there Graham. Went up to Paynes Find, Sandstone & Kal on the long week end. looks just as busy now as it was then.

Yep, you got in one Two tone, not very busy but the two pretty backpackers in charge of the petrol bowser and shop at Paynes Find have a combined IQ of -1......3 bikes using the one bowser confused the daylights out of them...mind you, they must be related to the Asian woman at the Mt Magnet Truck Stop who is really stupid.
