    Fellas, just after some advice.

By the time a ride to a servo, the tyres are warm and I dont really know what the tyre pressure is.

I'm thinking of getting an air compressor and tyre guage, can anyone reccomend a decent compressor and fairly decent guage. Not sure what I should be looking for and I heard some types are shit.

    Cheers,

    I have a 2009 Softail.

The manual says 30 front and 38 rear.  I read on this forum (sum fuggen post) to overinflat and run 40 in the rear.

I have done that for the past 2 - 3 months (run 40 in rear tyre) and it works a treat for me - better overall ride in my opinion.

But then I aint no skinny guy either

I run Avons on my Wideglide & run 37 in the front & 40-42 in the rear as they recommend.

    Once upon a time..........
It was always accepted that bikes ran 32/28.
32 in the rear, and 28 in the front.
But over the last 20 + years, tyre quality, and tyre pressures, have been on the rise.
HD went with 36/30 solo, and 40/30 dual for a good while.
Nowadays it is quite common for manufacturers to list far higher pressures, and I cannot see any reason
against running a higher pressure (still within the tyre manufacturers specs, of course), if it works well for you.

I get the impression that many here have been around motorcycles for at least as long as I have,
and would probably identify with the progress of tyres and pressures mentioned.

Ive got metzelers on front and back. Use a mini compressor i bought from autopro to inflate, and check pressures with a good quality gauge ive had since my go-kart racing days.Put 34psi front, and 40psi rear and always when tyres are cold. 08 FXDC.

Hi , two things ,   1 , I was told to run 40 rear , 38 front but not sure cold or hot .

2 I have a 2010 fatboy , what do other people do to get the servo type tyre gauge on the bloody valve end . Its near on impossible might get a bent valve end fitted when getting new tyres .
