Fuelshot gen 111

I thought I would add a mention on the Full shot from Big Joe's

Firstly I was a customer who didn't know a great deal about fuel injectored Harleys and as I was intending on fitting pipes and air at least at the start so I need as much knowledge to find what I thought was best for my bike and pocket book. After almost driving myself mad I found out about the Dobeck units on the USA forums and from all reports they sounded like a very sensible approach especially for the simplicity to fit and tune.

I happened by chance to click on Big Joe's site above for no reason and found a link to the unit and decided to call him. I live in Qld and he talked to me for close to half an hour explaining the Harley system and also the New fuelshot which is a much improved Dobect. He spoke of cleaning up the bikes overall running etc. Anyway, I ordered one and fitted it which was very easy and The boys had already set it for my bike and away I went. Well number one the bike behaved like a 96 should. The idling was smooth and non eratic, the torque was improved and the acceleration was amazing as was the smoothness of the machine. But the thing that got me started on this whole excercise was the dreadful heat that the stock bike put out. I am 62yo and started riding at 16 and in all those years have never been without a large bike, from most of the British machines to a heap of jap bikes as well as a BMW K1200lt and never in that time have I ridded a machine that gets so hot, I am fully aware of why it does but I can tell you it has cooled down now to where It feels like it should, similar to a water cooled machine.

I am sure that all the other units on the market do what they are supposed to do and this Fuelshot is no exception but the thing that sold me was the friendly service and the price. $495 plus freight sounded fine and I for on plus my 2008 softy custom couldnt be happier. I have absolutly nothing to do with Big Joes except to say they seem like bloody good blokes.

    Hi Terry,

Yes you can eliminate your decel pop with the FuelShot. It is a very easy install and allows you the flexibility to adjust some settings to suit your riding style and preferences. No computer is required, no programs to download or any error codes raised. Just performance improvements.

    Kind regards

    Mick

    Hi Terry
    YES it did, totally.
The entire rev range is smooth and torquey.
When I twist the throttle the bike jumps forward without hesitation.
If you go the route I went I am sure you wont be sorry.
I must ad that Joe and Mick are very professional and always have time to give when I kneeded it.
I cannot speak highly enough of them and it is more the pity that there are not more like them.

Hi john, Did you fit it up yourself? & Does the bike have to be run on a dyno to tune it in? Or can the whole excercise of fitting & tuning be done in the home shed? Thanks....

    Hi Kick

I fit it myself and that is very easy,

The unit comes with the 02 eliminators and thay are a piece of cake to fit also.

Once everything is fitted and set up as per the included instructions just start up and follow instructions if necessary. The boys had pre set mine but I still ran it to check it out and learn as much about it as possible.

I can promise you it really is very easy and anyone that can undo and do up a screw could fit it and NO it doesnt need to be dyno'd and that in itself is a good dollar saver. Also it can be fitted to a bog stock bike and it will smooth it out and cool it down to where it should be and I would think the torque and overall performance would be improved as well and if and when you want to pipe or air the bike it is a simple matter to reset the mixture. If you wanted to put cams etc in the bike then again you just press 6 buttons to make it right for that and if you check with Joe or Mick they will either talk you through it or reset it for you.

The adjustment is done by pressing a mode button and then pressing a plus or minus button to raise or lower mixture, Thats it.

Go get one, you wont regret it.

Gee's Mick, I should be on commission !!!

    So Steady,

Excuse me for my ignorance as I'm new in this neck of the woods.

    But who is Big Joe?
Does he have a web site.
And where is he located? Australia or US?

    This sounds just too easy.

Looking at his site right now and it just seems all too easy. Even has "how to do" instructions for the intake solenoid and exhaust actuator, simple.

Looks like the new Road King will be able to breath and run properly after all. That was my main concern with buying a 08 Harley.

    Hey Steady,

nothing like a users feedback directly. It is as simple as it sounds and looks.

As an engineer, I like to know too much detail.

The beauty here is the simplicity and effectiveness/ performance.

    Cheers

Ok , I fitted one of these things to my fatbob last weekend and they are a piece of piss to fit and if you can operate a mobile phone you can program it ! Only did about 15 k's due to other commitments I had so I can't tell ya's a great deal on how it is running but there is NO decel popping ! It was as "cold as a mother in laws kiss"Last weekend here so I can't tell you if was running cooler either but will do some Kay's this w-end and will report back. The unit is the same as the "Dobeck", "Techlusion", Arlen Ness "Big Shot". Did a bit of reserch on it and the bloke that makes it ,He designed the Dyno-jet power-commander then sold the patent. Then went and designed this unit. Great service from Joe's choppers, two days after the phone call it was in my mailbox!!Cheers

Bret, sounds like your  happy with the no hassle install, & a quick lap of 15km. ..Is there a way of telling wot you have dialed in? like how do you know if your running to lean ? or to rich? or just right? .....Thanks......

    Hi Brett,
Thanks for the feedback. Looking forward to hearing more once you do a few more Kms. I have no doubt that you will be happy.
While it is physically based on the Dobeck and other units as you mention, we have adjusted the programming to enhance performance. The settings in our units are different to those in the stock Dobeck, bigshot etc.

Kick, with regard to feedback on what is dialed in.
We have set the units up utilising our twinscan with O2 sensors on real road riding applications. This has been on a number of rides for both 88 CI and 96 CI. The feedback we have gathered with the test equipment on AFR etc has allowed us to confirm the AFR outcomes and adjust and improve the performance.
The units work differently to most piggy backs as they run a program that compensates for load and adds fuel accordingly. The bike will not be set at a fixed AFR as the AFR set point should vary based on riding conditions, load, etc.

    Kind regards

    Mick

Gee Mick I am glad you came on to answer questions I dont know the answer to.... all I know is it works like you said.

As for the heat of the bike, before I could fry an egg at fifty paces in secs, now I gotta wait the full 3 mins sitting it on the rocker boxes. lol

Good on you two for improving something that was a good design in the first place.

I wish you chaps the best.

Yes thanks for the imfo mick, l know my 06 streetbob doesnt have any space under the seat, & im wondering if the unit will fit in place of my origonal? or will some mods have to be made in this area to fit it all in & hook it up?......Has anyone fitted one of these babies to an 06 Dyna?? ....

    Hi Kick,

    no mods required.

We have fitted these to 07 Dynas and they fit in the cavity in the frame under the seat. I am pretty sure the 06 Dyna is identical.

    Cheers

I really dont understand why they dont make it run right for the factory, you think you buy a bike and it would run right
