Has anyone added braided brake lines without changing anything else and had better braking.

I've got a 2010 FatBob and the braking is pretty crappy .

    any advise will be appreciated

Fatster, Fatbobs already have braided lines as standard. Give the front brakes time to bed in and you'll be surprised, they're pretty good. Rear brake is a different story though.  Still running stoick pads, so can't complain.  They are a few easy options out there with regards to pads and they will make a big difference both ends. Be patient, or start working your brakes a bit harder to bed them in!!! That's my experience anyway???

I have a 2010 FatBob and they are not braided lines, they are the skinniest brake lines i've ever seen hence why I asked the question.

has someone actually changed their lines and got better braking from doing so. this bike weighs less than a Suzuki VZR1800 which out brakes my Harley

by a mile. I don't want to replace the whole braking system ( too much $s ) but if a significant improvement can be had I'd like to hear from any person that has had joy in that department.

Faster, take another look at the spec's on your bike and save yourself a few $$.
They are indeed fitted with PVC COVERED braided lines.

Fatster, FYI On a previous thread I mentioned I had changed the calipers over to the later model Brembos which is a direct bolt on and drastically improves braking for around $300.

thanks Duanneb, I've only just joined the group and haven't seen your post, what was your reason to change them?

speedster, not arguing with you but my manual and all the specs I've seen so far don't mention braided lines, and they are still the skinniest lines.

I have a 2008 Fatbob and I just checked the lines and mine have braided PVC covered lines, yes they do look a bit skinny, but I have had no problems with my braking, when it was new it needed a bit of bedding in

if you put in a search you may find a few of the fatbob owners on this site had a problem with them that needed bleeding - when I started Magnetic Island harley tours the machinery inspector knocked a couple of bikes back for braided lines, when asking the reason why they said - reasons of chaffing and the larger lines swelling

but that was back in 93 I suppose technology in brakes lines has moved on since then

I dont know how many kms you've done on yours yet - but it did take 500 - 600kms to start working properly for me

i was told by a dealer that all harleys from 08 on have braided brake lines as standard, they are just covered with the black pvc, so they don't look like the flash diamondback ones

Fatster, still standby what I said yesterday, my 2008 FXDF front brakes are very good, but the rear is still crap after 15,000 km.  Perhaps I don't use the rear enough ??? Give them some work and hopefully they'll bed in nicely and start working properly. Good luck
