Seems a bit dissapointing that we cannot name bad businesses anymore ?? I for one think that any business that is named as bad, will soon be backed up by a lot of happy customers if it turns out to be one persons opinion, and not of the majority. If any business is doing a good job then happy customers will always stand behind them and word will get around very quickly. If we can't air our thoughts on a forum like this then it's back to getting screwed by the companys we are afraid to name.

+ 1 , agree totally - thats why i get on here - the free information ! - and the useless banter and funny shit too - its not my only determining factor in who i will do business with in the future .........

And if i can also add , if i go to a business , and im happy with what theyve done in regards to me , then someone elses experience isnt necessarily going to influence my decision to do business with them - im a big boy and will make my decision based on my beliefs either way.

obviously this business thats rang up is copping it not just from 1 customer , does that say something about the business and how its run?

I reckon its a good thing - Keeps the fuckers honest -and if it doesnt , they will suffer the consequences

the way i see it, is if we can tell people about the Good Service that we receive, than the masses will gravitate to those shops and the shonks will get less business and have to pick up their game, good news can travell fast too you know. So i've got no problem with Admins decision

I don't agree with it but that don't mean fuck all cause I'm not admin (nor do i want to be), they do their job and make the calls that they think will be best for the site.

Funny thing is that businesses would rather piss and moan about what is said here instead of pulling their heads out of their asses and doing a good job. I'm sure no one in the "great service" thread will be complaining about the free advertising they are getting here. 

Any way since it was me that started the thread in the first place my apologies to KC and Bano for any trouble it's caused. I just thought people needed to know and if it saved even one person being ripped off then i guess it was worth it.

I am a business owner and I have no problem posting a bad review if I gave them shit service. Why must we look at the world through rose coloured glasses??

So are you saying the same rules would apply to a letter to the editor of NEWS.COM.AU, because people comment on that site all the time and bag the crap out of people.  Are you saying that the Newspaper would be held responsible if I get on there and call the PM a nasty name??  Sounds bogus to me.

So much for free speech, it's one thing to be able to talk about good service from good dealers but that doesn't give us the freedom to warn each other of rip offs and shit service from those dealers who are taking advantage of us at every opportunity. It's a shame that admin are allowing themselves to be pushed around by pricks that are now back-pedaling because our feedback on this forum is having a direct affect on the shoddy businesses they are running.

That's ok Bano and at the end of the day it's your decision but, to my mind the more of us (users or not) that know about shoddy dealers then more pressure is in turn put on them to pick up their act. As mentioned before, if a dealer contacted you and complained about the bad feedback he received on this Forum and that was all he had to say, then to my mind he has no intention of changing his ways and is just concerned about the general public finding out about the way he runs his business. Which means that, the next sucker (non forum user) who walks through his door gets ripped off, while he keeps on spinning shit and having a good time with our money. The more of the public that know about these operators the more word gets passed on from person to person until these dealers get what they deserve. And, if they had any intention of doing the right thing in the future then they could tackle the criticism head on and make a statement on this Forum saying that they will change their ways and invite us to come down and test their new honest approach to business which i think, most of us would appreciate. It's just a bit of a shame to my mind that when this Forum is "obviously making a difference" that we slacken off and let em off the hook.

That's a bit aggressive Chops after all I never said i wouldn't adhere to your rules, even if i don't agree with them. It is your forum, but don't forget without people like me (who were here almost from the start) you wouldn't have an audience. And you originaly said  "start up your own website and say whatever the fuck you like".

 

I agree that it is not really fair that a bussiness is outed like this with no chance of defending it self. There is always two sides to the story. Perhaps a better way out is to vent the spline on the forum without actually naming the bussiness in question. If anyone using the forum would like to know who they are, they can always send a personal message to the writer and get the info that way without anything being public. Just my 2 cents worth!

If someone posts a question asking if anyone has dealt with company XYZ, and I have and they treated me like shit - what am I supposed to do?? Not answer the post - let the guy go off and get ripped!! Even if I PM him, I am, in your words - Using your audience.

It leaves us with no choice but to start looking elsewhere for valuable information, because now we all know that there is no way of finding out on this forum what company gave someone the run around.

So the forum now becomes an gathering of all things fluffy and the truth remains unsaid!

Sad really - this is a great forum - it will be sorry to see it head this way.

When it comes down to it the reality of someone suing this site over comments made by a user is almost non-existent.  If we allowed bagging of businesses to continue, even then I don't think it would really happen.  People can make threats of legal action but the reality is that such actions are very expensive and would have very little likleyhood of winning even if they did go to court.

The decision about not allowing complaints against businesses to be aired on here comes down to one thing:

I simply don't think it's fair to publicly bag a business to a large audience over a personal incident.

can't see why Admin have to "justify" their actions, Their site, they can do what they like, if your not happy go elsewhere

OK - Just so I am clear...

A) If I go to a local company, be it a dealer or otherwise, and I get the runaround... go through a lot of hassle and in the get get ripped off... you are saying that I now can't get on this forum and share that information with the people I have come to know?

B) If a member states that they are about to orders something from a company online, and I did and they took my money and didn't send me my goods... you are saying that I now have to sit back and watch it happen to them?
