hey big guy, my name is boston jim, i'm a new member, (feb.1,2011) i live in boston,ma.usa.  i've been a harley guy since 1967.  i own a 1999 evo softail custom.  how's your 1999 wideglide doing for you, good , i hope.  i believe your bike is the first year twin cam, 88 inch, right ?  most , or should i say a shitload, had cam housing problems, cam bearings, cam chains, etc.  how many miles on bike ?  if you hear strange noise's coming from cam cover area (lower right side of motor), shut bike off immediately, don't try to make it home, you'll destroy your motor.  the best thing you can do, is to install gear driven cams, by s&s, andrews, zippers, etc.  if you email me, i can scan & email you a great story from "american iron magazine", sept.2004. better yet, you can go online at www.aim.com look for "techline" by donny petersen, the article is titled "oiling & oil filtration, part 3", or better yet, you can look up donny's shop www.heavydutycycles.com and ask him yourself, he's one of the best in the world, no shit.  i hope , i'm not to late with this info, that was a bad year year for motors, the factory didn't recall any, after 1000 blew up, harley issued a statement, such as, "if you hear a whirrring sound, shut bike down, if still under warranty, bring it in and maybe we'll replace cams with a repair kit"  i wish you the best of luck !  be safe, bostonjim  www.fatzusa.com

I thought the darkside was when you put a car tire on the rear of your bike.

    Welcome.
