What the go with the fuel reading, yesterday we went for a run, had a bit of a head wind and we were on it a bit.

Long story short I get back to the gas station, and its reading "Lo" on the speedo, now I am no maths genius but specs say it takes `17.3 liters, so I fill up and the fuel bowser says I put in 13.2 liters , did I have 4.1 liters in the tank when it was on "Lo"???

what am I doing wrong, am I not filling it enough ( have been putting gas in bikes for 33 years)?   is it that far out???

the reason servos will not let you fill up sitting on the bike is because

if you spill fuel over your tank and have a hot bike at the same time your sitting on it

up goes the bike and yourself ,not much fun with your ass on fire

being on a stand doesnt make one bit of sense, think about it what angle is the bike on when on the stand, leaning down to the left side of the bike so the right side (fuel filler side is high) again lets keep it on track here am I missing 4 liters of fuel???

Hey Guys actually you are wrong with the fuel spilling over theory. I do IT support work for BP & Caltex servos and the reason you are not allowed to sit on your bike while filling is due to static electricity, and the instance a spark may come of the body and ignite the tank.

A couple of cases happened in the UK & it was brought into play in OZ to stop it from happening .

Think of a service station that blew up in Maddington in W.A due to a tanker driver filling up the tanks and a static spark caused the rest.

    Not very pleasant.

That's the same reason why they won't let you fill Jerry cans in the back of the ute.

You have to take them out and fill them on the ground.

On a Sporty, the fuel cap is in the centre, so when the bike is on the side stand you can't get as much petrol in the tank compared to when the bike is vertical.

On a Dyna Wide Glide, the fuel cap is to the right, so when the bike is on the side stand the opening is at the highest point, so you can maximise the amount of petrol you can put in.

If you worry about fuel consumption, you shouldn't think Harley ..

Mate, I have the same problem with my 09 Fatbob and it does my head in.

I started to notice the range was out after I got the SERT and started hotting it up. Could be a coincidence cause after I reprogrammed it I started riding it harder.

Is the low fuel indicator part of the fuel guage or determined by the trip computer?
