     Hey all,

I have done a bit of reading and it appears that the condensation in the speedo seems to be the normal.  Well I just installed a brand new HD digital speedo and within the first 5km, it fogged up!!  FUCK!!

Has ANYONE found out a way to stop this??  It shits me as the whole thing goes blurry like I need glasses.  Its just fucked.

    Cheers

I guess the question is how are you storing your bike at night? I just use a cover and occasionally I get some moisture, but not much.

It lives in my Garage, but tonight it is under blankets - but I doubt that will solve the issue.

Pretty piss poor to buy a $32,000 machine and have to put up with that. My VStar didn't do it... My Honda didn't, and neither does my mates kwaka... so why can the japas get it right but HD can't??

Yeah I know... just shits me I guess.

I took my Vstar for a ride yesterday and there is no comparison to the HD, and I will NEVER go back. But I noticed a few things... like how easily the jappa goes in and out of gear. No clunks and bumps - Smooth as!!

Still... I love the fatty - compared the the yammi - well there is no comparison. :)

Well today I did 250km round trip and I am pissed!! 10 minutes in and there is water running down the inside of the glass, and the rest of the speedo is frosted. We stopped for coffee and when I got back to the bike it was all gone. Get back on the bike and 10 minutes in and its running down the glass again and this time it leaves this streak down the glass that will now never go away. FUCKIT!!

I contacted MnM Cycles and he without question told me to send it back - so no problem there... just a pain in the arse!!

I am wondering if the air is being forced into the speedo at speed? We were on the hwy for about and hour each ride, and it didn't start until we hit the hwy.

It has me fucked, but CAN'T be something I have to put up with!!!

I don't get it on my 09 Fatbob - if I don't cover my fuel gauge when I wash my bike I get a bit of it for few hrs.

Hi there i have a 07 sporster and i have had it since day 1 after riding for about 15 ks it fogs up but once you stop goes away not as bad as yours but enough so you have to take a few extra seconds of concentration to check it, so just my 2 cents

So I had a look at the speedo today and I reckon the only way air and moisture can get in is around the silver ring. There is no other entry point. So I am thinking, if I get this one swapped and the next one does the same, I might look at trying to seal that ring.

    Has anyone tried that?

I get this too & thought i had a faulty speedo/ & fuel gauge or that i had got a bit rough with the Gurney but i guess its pretty common. Now i can stop worrying, not like i ever look at it when i riding anyway!

Well some news.... Harley have now basically admitted there is a problem, and now ALL of their speedos are unavailable. They state they should be back on the market late November - This is an estimate.

Mine went back and MnM were FANTASTIC!! Gave me a complete refund and now I bought other goodies - (braided lines etc etc)

I will wait until after November to see what the noise is about the speedos and have another go if they check out OK.

Yeah - Tell that to the court when you go past the myriad of fixed speed cameras, mobile speed cameras, cops with laser guns and school zones on every corner!! <img src=" border="0" src="/DesktopModules/NTForums/themes/_default/emoticons/sad.gif" />

EDIT - The stock speed is good.  But when you pay good money for a speedo from the same manufacturer of the bike, I would expect it to be of decent quality.  What I would not expect is to spend a shit load of cash and get rubbish.  So I might not spend all day looking at the firgging thing, but when I do, I want to be able to see it.

My Rocka speedo fogs up to,obviously when I wash it and ridin in the rain (I can't see it all that well in the rain anyway) I'm gunna try a minute bead of silicon with a syringe and force it between the rim and the glass?  Yes/No?

See... I have a problem with that explanation - as not every speedo condenses. And it if were just a case of heat difference, then all of our speedos would condense. SO... my thoughts are, it can't be that simple.

My stock speed does not do it AT ALL. Not when it gets wet... not when it gets hot... not when it gets cold. So if it were just a temp difference, why does my stock speedo NOT do it.

My take is... if it condenses and its under warranty, tell them to stick it up their arse and replace it - because it aint right in my book.
