Dobeck TFI

    Hi guys,

I know the TTS has a strong following on this forum but I am seriously considering getting a Dobeck TFI  for my 08 sportster.
I do not envisage doing any more than a stage 1 upgrade so being able to adjust it with a screwdriver is damn appealing and the price is good too.

Any other Sportster owners use them?  They seem to have a big following on HDtalking forum.

    Dave and OZroder,

Thanks for your advice.  Poor fuel economy would certainly piss me off.

I'll have look at some of the other options.

    Cheers

Big Joe has a tuner that will do the job just fine on your sporty.
He is a member of the forum so send him a pm.
Others on here have and are using his tuner with great success.
    Best of luck

There is a huge number of units available now you really need to do your homework and decide what are the main features you are looking for. Every unit has its pro and cons as you will read about in all the forums. I have just been through it for my 09 sporty. As I ride all year round I didn't what one that I had to keep adjusting. So I looked at auto-tuners. I have use after market tuner with cars before and do like mucking about with them / dialling them in. I didn't want that with my every day ride. I took a punt and installed a Accel SLM, Not a huge amount of info around for them. the only negative comments where to do with Dyna's throwing A TPS code. Had it in for a month now and have pick up around 2MPG, had bike dyno'ed before install and have it booked in for Thursday for a re-run to see if it improve the AF mix and the effect on power. Proof will be in the dyno.

Hi M0ngrel, I am starting to lean towards The Big Joe Fuelshot III (dobeck) but could still opt for a TTS. I also like the ease of installation of the fuelpak but there does not tend to be too much info on what the modes do on the fuelpak. For me, simplicity, understanding how it works / or being able to read how it works helps and easy of use play a big factor.

BertieBettle, I know what you mean. Much to my wife's disgust, I have been doing a shitload of homework on the various options and am getting more and more confused. Met Peircy on a ride at the weekend. He gets very impressive fuel ecconomy from the TTS installed on his Softy. I would not mind getting something that could be installed in time for the Interstate challenge so I am going to have to make a decision soon. Customer service is very important to me being mechanically challenged. I reckon customer service would be good from Big Joes. AFAIK it is a rebadged dobeck gen 3 tuner. I have contacted Mick who has been very helpful. Keep us posted how the next dyno goes.

    Sprocket,

I think the thing that sold me on the TTS was the fact that you don't "Install" anything on the bike. It reprograms your stock EFI. So no 3rd party hardware to screw up.

Sprocket give Joe a call and have a chat or ask some of the users that have it.
Joe runs it on his own bikes, piece of piss to install and you can tune it and make changes in a matter of seconds.
The problem with the TTS as I see it is that if you stuff the mapping up by accident in an area and cant remember
where or what you have to have it reset to stock and start again.

But hey the choice is yours.

Well I went with the Big Joes Chopper Fuelshot Gen3 www.bigjoechoppers.com/BJCFuelshot.html

I could not be happier. I rode down today and Mick fitted the unit and my SE stage 1 a/c kit. The bike goes fantastic.
Mick Joe and Tracy were truly top people too.

    Absoltely stoked!
